I like this, its not one of those where the child tries to act cute and boom the uncle adopts her, not to mention I love that uncle here is not a rich duke or king, but a Mad scientist, with an interesting backstory. but yeah he need to stop acting like a child.
Grandpa is so annoying and ignorant, he thinks he will manage his son and grand daughter somehow but what happens after he dies? and how come his son has managed to make him a fool all this time? and Why did he not care about the grand daughter when he brought her? because now she is more useful, "a genius" "not like other kids" "cute"?

I agree about lots of things everything, in particular, iâm so glad itâs not another /prince/duke/ king, etc + child story !
but i also believe circumstances have more impact than what youâre mentioning
- The mad scientist is not acting like a child is burying himself in his research because pain is unbearable.
Losing his wife is already terrible, and losing a child makes people go really crazy
As he mentioned in the current chapter, he still hasnât sorted out his feelings. I might add maybe he never truly willâŚ
There a saying that goes about how we bury parents in the earth, but children in our hearts. Itâs still true, even if the child is an adult, even if heâs old. Those parents will tell you oneâs not supposed to outlive their child
- The granpa probably canât see his eldest son as bad as he truly is, itâs must be hard to believe oneâs child with a leisurely lifestyle can grow as venomous as to mistreat a little girl, let alone to murder, so yes, youâre righ, heâs vastly underestimating the situation which makes him think dangerously
- As for why he neglected her, well, she didnât step up and he might have feared she disliked or literally hated him : he was at odd with her dad and couldnât make peace before he died : this is also burying a child.
He warms up to her because she faces him brightly, with neither fear nor hesitation . He doesnât have any intention to build the invention at the time. He doesnât have yo deal with his own potential guilt when sheâs like that, and sheâs easy to like simply because sheâs bright and outspoken without ever being troublesome
Then we donât know how things went, but the kid died pretty fast. It is by no means an excuse, but maybe one of many possible reasons : there could be something as idiotic as time goes faster when you age, itâs even faster when you busy. Even if you care, times goes by and if you donât willingly make the time for some matters, youâll end up realizing that youâre missed big on some precious things like kids growing up, family time, or old friend passing by, etc.
Without any drama, this is just so ordinary, I canât think of anyone who doesnât have such regrets
.

Good point, when we loose someone precious, we are afraid to bring someone else in our life, we are afraid that we will forget the previous person, or we will think of the new person as replacement, thats why we close our heart. This is why I like how Jeffrey didn't immediately accept Aerin as daughter, it feels real.
Your take on grandfather's situation is also insightful.

This is so good! I love them, thier love feels so real, how is this so underrated?
I love the author, such great job!
"Now that the curtains are closed, the only thing I can see is You"
"Your first kiss, even your second and your third, all have become mine" wow
The library scene, the piano scene, when Dillon stands up for cedric, I loved how Dillon treated that trash cousin,
I don't like misunderstanding arcs but somehow this one was good.
I love that this story also have sister's relationship, friendships, mother-in-law daughter in-law duo, oh my I love lady Yuvette so much, she is my fav!
The art is also so pretty!
(spoilers)
tbh I just randomly joked how Katrina can be Adeline but I didn't expect it to be actually true

Wow he keeps calling her Shoeshiner and asks her why she can't forget her past.
And the fact that they have similar eye color

First famous "Japanese love drama manga" that I remember was... Two people that loved each other and suddenly one of the discovers that they could be brother and sister, after some time they both know about it and in the end they decide to sleep together and go to their parents to speak about it.
Their parents tell them they are not brother and sister so they get married and live happily ever after.
BUT they "do something" before knowing the truth.
Btw, these series were on TV the afternoon during kids time. It was so many years ago :D
What I mean is... I have read lots of stories like these and in the end they are not brother/sister relationship unless it has some twisted plot/extreme drama underneath, and I do not believe this is the case.
But I can understand the uneasiness of the situation.
My point is not thinking about this as something serious and if it bothers me, I can always drop it xD

Manga stories have always the same actors/actresses with different hair cuts/colour and eye shape/colour. Sometimes the same eye shape. Maybe that's why it does not bother me that much xDDDD
As I have said, I understand where this comes from, and i share these comments feels, never saw it like that until I noticed that some people were disgusted with it.
It's odd, but it is the artist style :D and by the way she looks awesome I must say. And him with those marks on his face... O.O
