Feels like y'all are reading with your eyes closed or something. Ofc he'd be 'bland', he's literally a character that has no fkin background and no royal title whatsoever. Like tf you want bro to do, suddenly fight some royals, go out of his way to risk his life for no reason or something. He doesn't have that privilege to do what the cold duke from other works do.
He literally had no name and to go from that to literally being THE BEST ml isn't bland in the slightest. Also he isn't a mindless robot, he doesn't have as much authority as the royals do, but even during his first introduction, we can see how he returns the earring just cause he knows involving with royals is never good. In between, i will agree he doesn't have much screen time but doesn't mean he's bland, it's not a story focused around him. There's also this part where Eris is sick and he comforts her, while staying in his zone cause like i said, he's not a royal figure, he can't step out of his way.
In the side stories we are made aware of his emotions more and how he can't act on it cause he doesn't have the Authority.
And the final fkin arc where he finally goes out of his way to wish for something that's literally unknown if it could be possible.
I'm yapping this much cause this is my favourite work and the hate Anakin and Helena gets is crazy, one for being 'bland' or having 'no personality' and the other for 'being annoying' or whatever. Y'all NEED to reread the work istg, y'all clearly don't like well written characters

Fr, everytime someone online talks about this work, they ALWAYS just include how ml ruined the story by being boring when i genuinely don't understand what they want him to do. Pisses me off so bad, we finally get a good ml for OI story and then people get mad about him having 'no personality'
With Helena too, we finally don't get the 'ogfl always evil' trope and actually get a backstory and understand her actions and even then people complain.
People hate seeing good works istg

Honestly its kind of sad. Because people are so used to reading trash, their standards have also become trash. Now they run to defend their poorly written characters. As soon as they see any form of depth in a character its too difficult for them to comprehend, so they complain.
‘Why is the author thinking so hard. I cant understand why they would make the character act like that. Where are the dramatized reactions im used to?? This is so boring.’

They see ML as boring because he isn't obsessive and manipulative. It's boring for them because the excitement comes from the drama that they're used to in other works. In this, the ML isn't a hero saving the damsel in distress, he's someone with limited power in the world they live in and just follows what the FL commands. He's a subordinate who doesn't go above his station and doesn't cause unnecessary trouble for the FL (unlike Eckles ). He's practically a green flag who doesn't impose his wants over FL. He loves her but he respects her wishes even though it's not what he wants. He doesn't disregard FL's boundaries and doesn't do anything without her explicit consent. His is the type of love that's not performative. Performative in the sense that they show grand gestures of affection. It's a quiet type of love that shows how deeply he cares by being selfless.
A very alien concept for others I think. Consent from an ML

Please summarise the story, I've heard the story is pretty interesting but due to the ml I'm not gonna read it but i am curious about the story.

Nah i don't like the Ml at all and I've heard he does some more abusive stuff in future, i just feel bad for the mc is all so i dropped the story. I was just curious about the plot because of the edits of the thing being the room or something which sounded pretty cool haha. Thanks for the reply tho.

Okok. I mean if you really want to know, you can still read the novel yourself just skip those parts since it's all connected to the plot. You can scroll down the comments here someone probably explained the main plot, search through the internet or you could take the novel and make AI summarize it or something
(Tbh they're both insane not just the ML in their own ways)

The story started off amazing and ended off equally amazing. The bullying part being realistic hurt, i do kinda wish we could've seen the victim in the future, i wanted to see if he was doing well, hopefully he is.
I am glad ml was never part of the bullying part would've left a very bad taste in this otherwise amazing story.
The vibe throughout the story is so monotonous and a bit sad which almost made me believe this was gonna have a sad end, I'm happy its not. But it is a bit bittersweet to see them not being able to be open about their relationship, i kinda was hoping they'd get married, but I'm sure they will eventually find people who will accept them.
Loved both the mc and ml, both are flawed characters but are very likeable due to that. I think the side characters didn't quite get the screentime for the readers to get attached but I'm happy they got a proper end too. Wished we could see the dad of mc since it seems he stopped the films right after the divorce.
Overall a solid 10/10, it's such a good story with well handled themes that small flaws can absolutely be overlooked. Wish this was more popular.

Ik some people say their relationship could not be defined with romantic one but i see it working out like in heavens official blessing, where the ml was pretty much saved by our mc as well.
This honestly could've worked as yuri, a protective and worshipping one looking after the sunshine character This world isn't ready for them as a couple atleast glad she's still gonna live as a daughter
Glad it's a fmc too, loving the story so far
