With every chapter I get more and more convinced he's psychotic. Like he's manipulative and cruel af, all while keeping that smug look on his face. And now he's trying to bribe the seme into having sex with him? How is he any better than a psycho rapist?
Idk but that’s what makes the story different, and interesting in a way, can’t say his actions are the best but we don’t know much of him to assume his intentions but Yh he seems psychotic

He's so presumptuous, constantly thinking the worst of everyone around him and not even giving them a chance to prove him wrong. And he lied, he's clearly a really insecure person and deals with it by belittling others and acting arrogant. Ugh pls the hot seme deserves better Σ( ￣□￣||)
So I really love the MC, she's one of the strongest female leads I've read in a webtoon yet. And I find the plot really interesting too. BUT I have two pretty big problems with this story. And those are:
1. The villain
2. The love interest
I find Rose such an annoying and tedious villain. And it's bc the author has made her incredibly one dimensional. She has absolutely no other trait, wish, desire or interest other than becoming queen, which is so unrealistic that she comes across more like a machine than human. When Rose does something twisted and disgusting I don't get mad at her, I get mad at the author, bc Rose doesn't even feel like a character she feels like a convenient plot device.
What baffles me even more is that the author originally gave her more nuance, but then randomly decided to strip her of that. I think it was a big mistake to have Rose declare she was never in love with the King and was only using him to become Queen. Bc her genuinely having a crush/being in love with the King, but not being allowed to marry him bc of her class, actually gave her some much needed nuance and sympathetic feelings. And it would have been massively satisfying to see her feel jealous and get her heart broken as payback for all the shit she's pulled, when she realizes he has fallen in love with our MC instead. Really a missed opportunity.
And then there's the King... Oh boy oh boy is he a weak love interest. He is as one dimensional as Rose, except his only trait is that he's a spineless pushover. First by his mom, then by his lover and now by our MC. The way he's portrayed in this story is so bad that he often comes across like a little boy, which makes his dynamic with our MC feel more like that of a mother and child, since her personality is so strong and assertive. Which is... SO NOT HOT. In fact it's creepy. You can make a character broken, but still a likeable and attractive ADULT. His characterization is another missed opportunity imo.

I feel like something is missing. Like at first their relationship was moving super slow (which made sense), but now it's moving at lightning speed. They're practically living together, Jiwook seems to have accepted his newfound sexuality which he was in denial about at first (?), and also went from having his 2nd ever kiss (and first handjob) in ch 21 to losing his virginity in 22 , and I'm just like how did this all happen so fast?

I think it's cuz they are spending a lot of time together or something.
And I'm so close to dropping this story. I don't understand how it has such a high rating? Like???? This story is so incredibly frustrating and unromantic. It's all over the place, throwing random exes and FWB drama into the mix that only takes away from the original mermaid curse setup (which at least was unique and interesting).
And the seme is one of the biggest assholes I've ever read about in BL. Why does the uke even like him? He's a terrible person to everyone and never takes any accountability for the pain he causes others.

What? Where? I don't see it at all. In every damn chapter including this one Seungho shows he has zero respect for Nakyum's wishes and always forces him to do things he doesn't want to. Not to mention he's still keeping him hostage and ENSLAVED.
I'm starting to doubt this is even a romance story.
That Seungho is a monster that deserved to have his ass thrown in jail

One is cold and mean, and the other is really manipulative and lowkey gives me predator vibes. But I guess at the end of the day I'd pick the cold and mean one, since the uke is clearly falling for him while showing zero romantic or sexual interest in the other one.
