I feel like many manhwa readers, especially of this type of genre, are used to FLs with strong personalities and have something unique (ex. intelligence, power, ability, etc.,) about them, aside from their beauty. And even Fls who were in a similar position to Erna whether that be being abused, having a dead mother, being from the countryside away from nobility, or entering a marriage of convenience, and have come out stronger than ever. Well, that is not the case for Erna, just as many abuse survivors don't all come out the same. I love a story with strong-willed female characters, but not all women are like that.
