The story shifts between past (5 years ago) and present quite a bit.
In ch 1,
it starts 5 years ago - dongyim tells jungyeom he is gonna get married - then shifts to present where jungyeom is the one being forced to marry that girl instead. dongyim has sex with that servant guy and jungyeom goes to see him. dongyim provokes him etc etc
ch 2
honestly mainly a lot of thwop thwop scenes. main plot point is jungyeom is utterly obsessed and dongyim loves to taunt him for his obsession, and finally also taunt him for marrying his bride.
ch 3
again loads of thwop thwop. but this time we get a bit more about how much dongyim resents jungyeom for killing his parents, taking his bride and his place in the household etc (latter part is more what he says, not what he feels). dongyim warns him that he will run right after jungyeom is married.
then we skip back to 5 years ago (also the scene ch 1 opens on) when they both were caught by the father. father beats up jungyeom and tells his servants to take him out and kill him. jungyeom instead goes on a rampage, killing the parents (and some of the servants too, one assumes).
ch 4
again, back to 5 years in the past. this time its right at the time of the parents' funeral. you can see that dongyim is holding the same pin that has his parents' blood on it. jungyeom is playing the role of the dutiful son (but smirking secretly) while dongyim is having sex with some guy, while wearing that pin (feels like he is taking revenge on jungyeom with that). he stops jungyeom from killing that guy.
then there's a brief flashback where there's dialogue from jungyeom's childhood (mixed dialogue from both his own parents and dongyim's parents - basically showing he was hated from when he was a kid). a beaten up young jungyeom (in that same place where he's now locked up dongyim) is consoled by a young dongyim who kisses him. ig this was where their relationship starts.
switches back to present where jungyeom is getting married. post-marriage scene cuts between both the bride and dongyim looking back, waiting. jungyeom chooses to go to dongyim instead. they have a fight etc etc. jungyeom implies that he was going to end his life, but lived because of dongyim. dongyim says he loved him, but refuses to be with him anymore. dongyim tries to run, sees the clothes of the bride running away, implying she heard everything. ch ends with jungyeom catching him.
whew this was a longer ch with so much happening!
will add ch 5 (maybe) when it comes out
That is some delicious delicious angst.
so dongyim was the one to pull him back in (and the first to initiate their relationship later on) and jungyeom is obsessed with him, but we never know how real dongyim is with his feelings (he claims to have loved him so much but his expressions always show a bit of malice) and how much of it is tainted with guilt and resentment in the present timeline. meanwhile lookign at jungyeom both in past and present, he is so scary - esp that smile at the funeral! i also sorta feel bad for him bc he was abused to the point of suicide and then he finds the one thing to live for and its taboo. then again, he is too far gone to see what he is doing is essentially caging dongyim and hurting him even more.
(will dongyim run away tho? he had his chance and didnt take it. like why announce you gonna run? it sounded more like an ultimatum or test of jungyeom)
toxic x toxic really does describe this best.
also i LOVE the storyboards on this ch in particular! the way those scenes are paralleled against each other! big muah to the artist.
I think the mc made the ml admit all that so his bride could listen to it. In the last panel there was a hint of clothing in the hallway. All of this seems mc's way of keeping his brother attached and obsessed over him. The way of refering the bride as his woman and sharing his plans of escaping seems like manipulating the ml to be with him forever.
Why is someone uploading MTL shit for this series? This got licensed. Have some damn respect
And yet you’re complaining about an actual person making fan translation. When you say respect? Who are we supposed to respect? You must be so retarded to think that we care about the author’s feelings or the official translation team. Who cares about them? Also, you’re also stupid as fuck for making it seem like you’re a respectable person when you’re also a thief like us.
Please! MTL is not 'fan translation'. It's just shit parading as a translation. Barely any work goes into it. They can't even TS for shit.
Respect for the author and the people who did an actual fan translation before this, you numbnut. It's like talking to a child in here. Do you need every bit of information spoonfed to you, you fucking child?
I really don't get her reasoning. Like I tried to understand, but what I got was she felt alone because she was different from others in that she faced parental neglect, and even that was self inflicted loneliness. It's not like her friends avoided her. Then she can see that this guy is happy with someone and is NOT lonely and yet she wants to find a girl for him? He's also beloved by the villagers, so it's not like they are going to outright hate him for being gay. I honestly don't get what the author wanted to portray with her...
I think her reasoning is that she felt isolated because she experienced a different upbringing and she didn’t want either of them to feel that kind of self imposed isolation due to their relationship being unconventional for a small town in a South Korean country side. She doesn’t have anyone to relate to and thinks that the two MLs will feel the same kind of isolation as her due to their relationship being a taboo in a conservative small town.
Yea i know her reasoning. I even know that it wouldn't be great reception for two gay guys in a rural area. But her situation really has nothing to do with it. Maybe if she was concerned for the kid feeling isolated like her while growing up because of a 'different upbringing' it would make a bit of sense.
i found out from the comments here that this series has a prequel series? currently ive been reading it as is and havent had any problems, but how important is it to read the previous series, does anyone know?
Omega complex. ML here was the 2ml there. I don’t think it’s necessary to read that first. Just to be clear I believe that’s a good story. But I personally dislike misunderstandings and I absolutely abhor 2ml tropes so I just couldn’t get past chapter 6. Though I’m enjoying this so much more because I do like the angst and the misunderstanding seems understandable for their situation. I personally don’t think there’s a need to read that but I do think it’s a good read from recommendation and comments and maybe you can get to know ml more from there.
Ugh not this whalemanga shit again
The site uses a bot to scrape other sites to see if they have more chapters for a series. Often it's bato where most groups post, tho many post here as well at the same time. But sometimes it will pull chapter from MTL sites like whalemanga (low quality translation basically, in it to make ad revenue $$$). Problem is once it has an MTL chapter, it won't search for a proper chapter from say, like bato.
In this case, the group posts here too, so we'll eventually get a good translation. It's just disappointing to see an update and it turns out to be an MTL chapter
It's so obvious that there's some history there for which the top is taking revenge! Fwiw i love me some revenge plots.
Also i don't get why people are complaining. It gives you a warning right at the start, plus it's obvious the story is gonna be toxic as hell.
Don't like, don't read. Truly. Just find what you like to read and go read that. You'll be happier in life.
Instead of coming here complaining on a toxic one, go find and give loving comments on the wholesome ones.
P.S. I'm not being sarcastic or anything. Hell, I'll even point you to the wholesome ones if you ask
