yes, read the novel! There is subtle romance and some really cute scenes throughout, but the mutual attraction doesnt come out in the open until near the end. The yaoi is at the end as well, but when you do get the the those scenes, they are super steaming hot! And if that's not enough, this novel is worth reading even just for the MC, Wei WuXian . Seriously one of my favorite characters of all time
