Omegaverse history?

Yo, anybody see today's NYT article on omegaverse? It's mostly about copyright and writers sueing other writers claiming they own omegaverse tropes. The article goes into a history of omegaverse and attributes its beginnings to the Supernatural fanfiction base. There is no mention of manga omegaverse. So which came first? Manga omegaverse or Supernatural fanfiction omegaverse? Anyone know?

Omegaverse began in Western culture and was later adopted by Eastern cultures. Mangas only embrace the bl aspect but Western novels are broader and have yuri and hetero style stories

Thanks. The article says it started specifically in Supernatural fanfic. Just wondering if that was true.

Yes, that is true. I read about this a few years back. Fascination with supernatural creatures like vampires and werewolves and the delving into werewolf culture led to the development of omegaverse and hierarchies in that culture.

Supernatural as in the US television series called Supernatural. I thought omegaverse preceded that, but I don't know the history.

Lobe that show...but they meant the genre of supernatura not the tv series. Omegaverse started in the late 70s if I recall
