I skimmed through the novel and this is what I gathered from the story.

Akane Kuritani, a former nurse, takes a job at a caregiving company called "Hidamari" and is assigned to care for a mysterious patient, Miyazono Hiwako, in a secluded mansion deep in the mountains. From the beginning, Akane senses that something is wrong—the staff follows strict, unusual protocols, and Hiwako is always kept covered in cloth. As she spends more time in the mansion, she begins to notice unsettling details, including bloodstains and strange noises at night. Hiroto, Hiwako’s son, is terrified of something in the house and tries to warn her through drawings, though Akane does not immediately understand their meaning.

Determined to uncover the truth, Akane removes Hiwako’s covering one night and is horrified to see that her patient has clouded white eyes and an unnaturally wide mouth. In a terrifying moment, Hiwako bites Akane, triggering a series of chaotic events. Soon after, Hiwako escapes into the forest in a frenzied state, leading Akane and the mansion’s staff to chase after her. As the search unfolds, Akane begins to learn the horrifying truth: "Hidamari" is not an ordinary caregiving organization, and the mansion is not a simple care facility.

Through a series of chilling revelations, Akane discovers that Hiwako is being kept as a "breeding ground" for monstrous entities. She was first force-fed the flesh of her murdered husband, and ever since, she has been sustained by human corpses, which the organization regularly provides. Some of these bodies came from people abducted in the mountains, including a young couple who were recently killed. Akane is horrified to learn that Hikita had even resorted to cutting off parts of her own flesh to feed Hiwako when food was scarce.

As Akane tries to process the inhumanity of what she has learned, she is confronted by Takasago, a high-ranking member of the organization, who reveals the deeper truth. "Hidamari" is run by beings who are not fully human—they are descendants of the demoness Hariti, a figure from legend who preyed on children. The organization has survived for generations by using humans as breeding vessels and food sources. Hiwako, and others like her, are merely tools in their grotesque cycle of reproduction.

Determined to save Hiroto and escape this nightmare, Akane fights back. She deceives Takasago long enough to steal a car and return to the mansion, hoping to rescue those still trapped inside. However, she soon comes face to face with Kanbara, the head of "Hidamari," who reveals herself as a monstrous hybrid of a demon and an insect. Kanbara offers Akane a choice—join them and become part of their system, or die. Refusing to comply, Akane fights back and, in a desperate act, sets the mansion ablaze.

As the flames spread, Hiwako, realizing her fate, makes a final sacrifice, allowing Akane and Hiroto to escape. As Akane flees with the boy, she sees other women, still standing in the burning mansion, their minds seemingly controlled by the organization. Though she has managed to get away, she knows that the nightmare is far from over. The organization still exists, lurking in the shadows, and Akane can only wonder if she has truly escaped or if the horror will one day find her again.

This is hands down one of the best psychological horror manga out there! The way the story slowly unravels the truth keeps you on edge, making every reveal even more chilling. I haven’t read the entire novel because I want to fully experience the horror through the stunning artwork—it’s just that captivating!

I’ve read this manhwa four times, and now I’m on my fifth
I don’t see why this isn’t a bigger hit. It takes time to explore both perspectives, making the journey all the more meaningful. And just because the author has written a wholesome manhwa before doesn’t mean they have to do the same here. Not every story needs to be wrapped in flowers.

I’ll always return to this. (▰˘◡˘▰)

Guys, please help me find this manga!

I'm not sure if all the details I remember are accurate, but this is what I recall:

The bottom who has a guardian (or possibly an older brother, though they’re not blood-related). The guardian is sick, so the bottom goes on a journey to find a rare medicine, which, if I remember correctly, can only be found in the mountains. However, there's no guarantee he’ll actually find it.

Later, the bottom receives the guardian’s final letter while sitting beside the top. They read it together at night in a huge room, which I think was a solarium. In the letter, the guardian writes something about the stars—maybe something like, "If we ever reincarnate, I hope to find you again" or something along those lines.

Just to clarify, there’s no romantic relationship between the bottom and the guardian; it’s more of a deep admiration from the bottom toward him. Also, the setting is from an older era, possibly ancient times.
