I wish the author of Unfather could also do what the author of Hogu Hagyeongsu/An Easy Target is doing with a few extra chapters (ex. possible endings, elaboration on the ending). This ending leaves a bitter feeling inside one’s heart. I acknowledge the lesson is that you reap what you sow. I feel like Sihyun did not get his just punishment at all but instead got what he always wanted - a Kyunghee that is completely dependent on him, cannot escape him, essentially a lifeless doll for him to control. My interpretation was that Kyunghee was always trying to escape from Sihyun and in the end, he ended up in Sihyun’s grasp. ( ̄へ ̄)
The beginning chapters made this whole story so interesting and unique. I was rooting for Jinha x Siwon. Then midway, after that prick Lu Xuan was introduced, things started to go downhill. Now, the recent chapters are just fillers of a bad representation of BDSM and just...dragging out things. Maybe the author is trying to reach the 100 chapters mark? The whole BDSM segments, in my opinion, do not even serve to further the plot or contribute to anything. It feels like this story had a plot, but after dragging things out using Lu Xuan, the plot is slowly disappearing amongst fillers.
To be honest, at this point, Jinha deserves better. I am actually thinking he should go with someone else. How can Siwon be so dense?? It does not take more than 60 chapters to STILL not be sure of your feelings. Come on, Jinha was so sure of his feelings for Siwon when Siwon pushed him away and away and away.
I am sorry, I know the author means well, but I am losing patience with these dragged out fillers with Lu Xuan. It has become unnecessary. I am surprised this story is still ranked high on Lezhin at this point. ( ̄へ ̄)
You and I can hold hands and run skipping and jumping..
I feel the exact same way. I was living for this story at the beginning, I didn't mind Lu Xuan added as the antagonist because I felt it was to add dept and a dynamic to the story, but good golly Miss Molly this has been dragged out sooo long and Siwon as you said is so dense.. I would use just plain stupid.
His opinions and fears may have been initially valid but now they just make him seem like a guy who skipped a grades or probably was dropped as a baby because the brain cells are missing.
I agree they are trying to maybe get to 100 chapters but there are ways to add fillers without stalling the storyline or boring the readers.
I genuinely love it, and want Jinha and Siwon together but honestly... Jinha find another boy and move on mate ( ̄へ ̄)
Reading/following the story for Lucaon x Kyon, they both already suffered enough and deserve a happy ending. In my opinion, I cannot forgive Ryan and Christoph. Both essentially tried to keep Lucaon from being with Kyon. It was immensely unfair and hypocritical that Ryan easily forgave Christoph and dismiss his actions which by the way, harmed the Selvior family and Lucaon. On the other hand, he was an a** to Kyon and drove him to attempt suicide. I do not feel sorry for Ryan nor Christoph at all. Although, we can definitely blame Edwin for all of this. Why is Ryan x Christoph supported yet no one gets upset that those two tried to come between Lucaon and Kyon? If people are going for that pairing, then Lucaon and Kyon deserve happiness too.
Ryan "drove Kyon" away in order, in his eyes to protect Lucaon. This also had the support from Cecilia. This was at that time, and with the information they had the right thing to do, as at the end of the day Kyon was planted in their household by Edwin/Intron. They both accepted when Lucaon objected to this, and have moved on from their previous objections. In regards to Christoph, no Cecilia and Lucaon have not forgiven him. I think Ryan does feel affection for Christoph, and knowing what happened to Kyon, is now more aware of how Intron manipulates their servants. Knowing how close he is to Intron (being the brother of Edwin), Christoph is better to have on their side, and use, as he has information and power in relation and could be used as a bargaining chip.
Spoilers...
I still feel physically sick reading through the rape scenes, especially with the older brother Geon or w/e his name was. It was like 20 chapters (~starting chapter 23 to chapter chapter 43) and I felt immense sadness and anger for Kyung Soo. The author must’ve had her fantasies overfulfilled or something. The penetration, tying up, etc was bad enough but the beatings with the belt? Who the hell rapes someone when they have a cold?! Well, I am sure most readers find Geon and his actions admirable because well..’cause he’s hot and that is his unique way of loving someone, right? Kyung Soo was right - if he was going to go with the lesser evil, Yule is the better choice. When the older brother threatened to commit Yule, I was screaming at my screen, “wtf dude, you should be sharing a room with him and commit yourself first!” If I was Kyung Soo and met Geon at the second meeting in chapter 59, I would just take that crutch, hit him enough times in the head to cause severe neurological damage rather than let him walk around with a healing fractured leg. Honestly, Kyung Soo is too nice and lenient.
The ending, in my opinion, was missing several “just desserts” for the characters, but I did felt a resolution was reached. I thought the ending was simple yet showed a lot. Hell, everyone needed immense therapy and help in this manga. I wished several things had happened:
(1) Geon should have been jailed, commited to mental ward, or suffered a physical/neurological damage for the rest of his life for ALL the things he did to traumatize Kyung Soo. Hell, reading through those 20 chapters of rape traumatized me :(
(2) Dong Hyuk and Kyung Soo were essentially the only “pure, innocent love” in this manga until the psycho Yule came into their relationship. I expected Dong Hyuk and Kyung Soo to part ways - Dong Hyuk obviously did not get over his trauma seeing Yule raped Kyung Soo and towards the end, although he meant well, he had an inferiority complex with Yule, became clingy, and mentally desperate, unstable, obsesssive. Personally, if someone who claims to love me held a knife threatening to kill me, nope, we are done. Who knows what other things that person would do? I had a significant other threatened to jump out of a balcony from the 36th floor if I broke up with them— maybe it might be “eh..” to some people, but it traumatized me. If the two stayed together, I think it would turn into a manipulative/psychologically unstable relationship. The scar on Kyung Soo’s neck will hopefully remind him to be more careful in the future.
(3) Yule - oh wow, I give mad props to the author for creating Yule. I was as shocked as Geon when I thought Yule did not know about what Geon did to Kyung Soo for 5 days. That was a total shock - Yule planned everything. Yule is a psychopathic and obsessive ass, but I rather take his insanity than Geon and his sexual sadistic methods. Yule should have been committed to a hospital, I thought that Geon said if Yule followed Kyung Soo, that would happen...oh well, thank you to the author for giving an ending with Yule with downcast disposition and dark bags under his eyes... he is no longer the arrogant ass when he first encountered Kyung Soo on the stairs. He is now broken down to someone who knows he has to take responsibility for his actions and is actually miserable about it. I hope he has been dreaming over and over the image of Kyung Soo and his throat being slit so the fear of losing Kyung Soo is instilled in him— in a similar way he previously instilled fear in Kyung Soo through threats.
(4) Although I wished the author did not put Kyung Soo through geee...20+ chapters of rape and hell, I think Kyung Soo is admirable; he did not seek revenge and became strong towards the end. Hell, after one encounter with the brother, I would have broken the window in the room, jumped out, and ran away a long time. But well, after the constant psychological/physical/sexual abuse, you do not have the energy or willpower...
At the beginning, Kyung Soo was meek, willing to please, blushed at saying hi to Yule while Yule was an arrogant ass. At the ending, Kyung Soo became strong, did not dwell on revenge, did not rely on Yule. He could live and move on without depending on Yule! Yule was brought down from an arrogant, psychopathic ass to well...a stalker (I think that is the most change he could go through) but he is actually aware and maybe scared to lose Kyung Soo, so he will no longer put pressures on Kyung Soo. I felt that Yule with dark bags and not looking like a pompous ass was a satisfying sight. Also, Kyung Soo was damn courageous to say hi, because he learned to face Yule, not shake in his presence and move on. Most people would give Yule the finger and tell him to f*ck off haha...basically, Yule now has to earn his way back to Kyung Soo. I feel unfortunately, the OTP is Yule x Kyung Soo, right? Oh boy...
I thought the manga was good, an emotional rollercoaster and it could’ve been successful if you removed gee...90% of the rapes, but well...at least Kyung Soo found peace and new strength...even with Yule still stalking him. Can’t win them all, right? (〜 ̄△ ̄)〜
1)Team Geon (Kyungsoo x Geon)
2)Team Bulgogi and Soda (Dong-Hyuk)
3) Team Yule (Kyungsoo x Yule)
4) Team Therapy (Kyungsoo x Therapy)
5) Team ___ (Kyungsoo x ?)
6) Team They All Need Therapy (Everyone x Therapy)
7) Team Prison and Therapy (Yule x Prison, Geon x Prison, Sister x Therapy, Dong Hyuk x Therapy and Kyungsoo x Free x Therapy)
I need help coming up with inventive/creative names for Teams Geon, Yule, Dong-Hyuk, and any others if possible.(⌒▽⌒)
Definitely Team Therapy !
Team 6).
6) Team they all need therapy (everyone x therapy)
Then I will go with team 7) , Yule and Geon get thrown into prison and the sister gets help or leaves the mansion and tries to better herself. And Doyoung (forgot his name) gets a lot of therapy and Kyungsoo needs to be free and needs to see maybe a phycologist.
