idk what yall complaining about, when most of the romance stories get cut right after couples finally get together and big "happily ever after" shows above their head, when being in relationship itself is enormous field to explore, what exactly we see with main couple. Starting dating is not an end goal, it's literally just a begining.
thats true but often a lot of stories need plot as a motivation for romance because it is what hooks people. our brains are wired for the feeling of watching the leads battle something or someone. a romance only plot is difficult to pull off and a regular character growth plot followed by a romance only plot is even harder because the initial plot is no longer pulling the weight. it is simply how a lot of brains are made to consume entertainment and with fast pace entertainment nowadays, its even more prominent. the moment the story pivots is the moment most people start falling off interest
