Raws for volumes 6 and 7: https://booklive.jp/product/index/title_id/1291740/vol_no/001
Melting Point is literally just Dash but without the ABO verse thing, and instead of swimming, they made it hockey.
I actually love Melting Point, donāt get me wrong, but I also finished all 180 chapters of the Dash BL novel last year, so I know what Iām talking about. I already suspected it back when in first few chapters of Melting Point where they introduced the whole āsport advertisement worker uke x athlete seme,ā setup because thatās exactly the whole premise of Dash. BUT I brushed it off thinking maybe this would still go in a different direction than Dash. But no. After these recent chapters, itās way too obvious. From first chapters until now, the story flow, pacing, timingāitās ALL Dash.
What pissed me off more is they even copied the burger and cigarette thing. In Dash, the seme is an olympian swimmer, picky with food, only really likes burgers. The uke smokes, and the seme doesnāt like it. Melting Point used the exact same setup. And the lookalike third person? Dash had that tooāthe seme meets a celebrity overseas in a bar during his training in Australia, and that celeb looks exactly like the uke. Later on, that celeb even gets involved in the story for jealousy drama. In Melting Point, itās basically the same thing but with a model instead of a celeb, still met overseas in a bar, still looks like the uke.
At first I thought I was just overthinking, like maybe itās coincidence. But no, this is just straight-up copying. I like both Melting Point and Dash, I really do, but author⦠donāt you think this is too much? You copied almost everything just to ride the hype. Dash was super popular around 2020ā2021, even if itās underrated now. And the timing is crazy, because only this year Dash finally got a manhwa adaptation and yet Melting Point is getting all the clout with whatās basically a recycled version of Dashās entire storyline.
Yeah, I get that a lot of BL shares similar tropes like rich x poor, student x teacher, boss x employee, athlete x manager, all that. But this isnāt just āsimilar,ā itās literally the same storyline beat by beat. Like sure, tropes are common, but with all that exact sport ads worker uke x athlete seme dynamic, athelete seme one sided love for decades, the burger/cigarette thing, the lookalike third person met overseas in a bar, the exact [insert a number of month]-fuck buddiesāall of that isnāt just coincidence. Thatās way too specific of copy pasting.
I wouldnāt even be mad if it was just inspired or had a few overlapping points, since its normal for BLs. But from chapter 1 to the latest update, Melting Point feels like it just slapped hockey over Dashās swimming and recycled everything else. Thatās not āsimilar tropes,ā thatās basically rewriting the same story.
Everyone pls read Dash first then come back to me and correct me if Iām wrong.
The Melting Point author should honestly be glad that Dash BL novel isnāt just about the romance and sportsāit also goes heavy on the ABO/mpreg setting and even dives into the corruption in the sports field. Like, the uke in Dash literally exposes dirty rich old higher-ups, corruption, money laundering, ghost projects in sports and even doping scandals. I really hope Melting Point doesnāt try to copy that too, god.
The only thing Melting Point actually did differently is making the uke a divorced man with an ex-wife. And honestly, thatās the one detail that got me hooked on it at first. But the more I read and re-read this manhwa, the more I see itāitās just Dash all over again.
Lol yeah I get that sports BL and even transmigration novels often share common tropes like fl was arranged marriage with some duke of the north and villainess pulling out some revenge to some who killed them in their previous life and making them fall in love with them etc etc, thatās normal. But what Iām pointing out here isnāt just about tropes. Dash isnāt ājust another sports BL,ā it actually built a very specific storyline thatās way MORE DETAILED than the usual āathlete x manager/workerā and ABO plot.
Dash tackled a lot more than romance, yes it had the ABO/mpreg aspect, but the whole corruption in the sports industry, rich old higher-ups exploiting athletes, and even doping scandals. The uke literally risked himself exposing those issues, which made Dash stand out compared to the cookie-cutter sports BL stories. Thatās not something you can just lump together with every other āsimilarā work. So when I say Melting Point feels like Dash, Iām not talking about general tropes. Iām talking about the exact pacing, scenes, dynamics, even oddly specific plot points like this burger/cigarette. Thatās not just āsports BL being similarā and thatās one story being mirrored almost scene-for-scene.
Dash might not be 100% āoriginalā in the sense of inventing tropes, but it def distinguished itself with how it expanded the narrative. And thatās why itās frustrating to see Melting Point blow up while looking like a copy of Dashās hard work.
REAL Exactly. Like yeah I get it, tropes repeat all the time like reincarnation, transmigration, sports BL, rich ceo x poor romance whatever. BUT the thing is, similarity ā carbon copy. Reincarnation stories share the same setup, but authors usually spin it in their own way, different arcs, different world-building, different pacing, different relationships. With Melting Point though, itās not just the trope, itās the pacing, the plot beats, even oddly specific details from Dash that line up one by one. Thatās why it feels too much.
I wouldnāt mind if it was just āoh both are athlete x worker BL,ā cos thatās broad. But when it copies these specific points that they copied, it stops being just ācommon BL similaritiesā and starts feeling like a rewrite.
Thatās why people who read Dash canāt ignore it. Itās not hating for the sake of hating, itās literally pointing out how obvious it isā¦
Thereās a difference between using the same tropes and literally following another workās storyline beat by beat. We shouldnāt normalize straight-up copying someoneās work and then getting clout off of it.
Lol I just really hope the Melting Point author comes up with something more original instead of recycling Dashās entire flow. Similar tropes are fine, but this one is just too obvious and vv specific of copy pasting.
Bestie, a lot of other stories introduce intricate elements and their own spin. I have seen a lot of ABO stories that go way deeper into societal issues, inequality, even such elements as a red light district. Moreover, a lot of sports anime go into doping scandals. With confidence I can say Sadh isnāt original or special. Moreover, this story is similar enough to even other manhwas in this genre when it comes to pacing and most plot points, that I can say it does not copy Dash. I also donāt mean to be rude but Dash isnāt that popular.
Also youāre not right about novels just copying tropes, not true at all. Even arcs are very similar. If you read enough novels, you notice this. Even the pacing and plot points are rarely original. I can assure you that Dash isnāt original, I think you need to read more popular novels from the genre and check when they were released. Even they arenāt original.
Oh to this extent and more. Some novels are almost identical copies with slightly different characters. In this case, Dash isnāt original. You notice the similarities, but in truth this story shares similarities with most from this genre, even manhwas itself in this genre are very similar. People who donāt read novels donāt know this, but most of the author absolutely donāt care, especially if they use tropes like omegaverse, sports, corruption, inequality.
I donāt think you really got my point. Iām not saying Dash invented ABO, or that itās the only story with corruption/doping arcsāof course other stories also have those elements. What Iām saying is Melting Point is following Dash too closely in very specific ways. The burger/cigarette dynamic, the lookalike third party met overseas in a bar, the sport ad worker uke x athlete seme setupāitās all the same beats. Thatās not just āsimilar pacing,ā thatās literally copy-paste.
And fyi, Dash was popular. Maybe not now, but back in 2020ā2021 it was big in South Korea. Just because itās underrated today doesnāt erase that fact lol.
Read all 180 chapters of Dash novel then come back to me, correct me If Iām wrong.
What the hell are you talking about? Did you even read our points? Weāre not crying about ātropes,ā weāre pointing out specific things Melting Point COPIED from Dash. Thereās a huge difference between common BL beats and straight-up copy-paste details
Dash isnāt some half-baked story lol itās a 180-chapter Korean novel with careful worldbuilding (ABO/mpreg), deep character work, and serious subplots about everything. That level of plotting and how those arcs unfold over hundreds of chapters is not the same as generic pacing.
LMAO you havenāt even read Dash but youāre calling it unoriginal? Shut up. If you want to argue this, at least read the whole thing first.
And honestly? Put yourself in the position of Dashās author. Imagine you poured years into writing, building characters, weaving arcs, only for another author to just strip out the ABO and change the sport from swimming to hockey, then parade it around like their own creation. Imagine watching that ācopiedā version get clout and popularity while your original work is pushed aside and called ānot special.ā Thatās insulting. The Melting Point author should be fucking ashamed for riding on someone elseās work like that.

I hate that the blonde dude friend already knew that they were together but still come in between their dates together with their other friends.
You could lowkey tell that he wanted them to have their time together tho
