Hello ! I am studying nutrition and i am a former sugar addict,
I managed to curb my sugar cravings over a period of 2-3 weeks thanks to advice similar to the glucose goddess is giving for free on YouTube. She gives four simple rules that are very efficient to balance blood sugar throughout the day, i feel more energetic and i have no more cravings. _
Also because my goal is to drop a few pounds without loosing MUSCLES, i am using an helpful app called cronometer (free) i use it 3 days in a row , at times, to make sure i am eating ENOUGH , in the sense, enough proteins and enough fibers, because i want to feel satiated!!!
Proteins, fibers and the right amont of healthy fats truly helps me keep healthy eating habits, as i am feeling good sleeping better and digesting better ! It's a good feeling !! _ i mean i love food and i found yummy ways to eat more proteins and eat my veggies i also appreciate that kind of app to get a sense of my caloric intake but it seems i am quite resonnable WHEN my protein + fiber + lipid intake is ENOUGH _ !! _ now that my sugar cravings are gone for good _ so that's what i have been doing _
I am eating less carbs but i still eat them !! I eat carbs at the end of the meals, generally, and i go for whole food everytime possible.

No the < glucose revolution > isn't a diet per se, it's more about eating smarter to balance blood sugar so as to balance and optimize energy. There is no calorie counting. Yeah i understand the ADHD thing. I have seen people with ADHD sharing how they do it (on YouTube principally), because the first thing with ADHD is to have quick meals solutions because ADHDers have difficulty with executive function + they tend to get distracted and forget to eat !! So when they realize they haven't eaten for hours or the whole day they feel not only hungry but dehydrated and starved ! And so maybe they will eat big volumes of junk food just because they are suddenly so hungry and there is no time to cook or go to groceries because it's too late when in starvation or dehydration/hypoglycemia lol.
the First rule is do not eat your carbs NAKED. Ha ha :-D that means , have veggies beforehand and a little bit of proteins and healthy fats
(eggs and high protein fermented diary are a good thing for weight loss), or have a bunch of healthy breakfast burritos ready in the freezer, or healthy freezer meals or freezer sandwiches that are high protein and rich in fibers and not only carbs. Or eat a piece of fruit but with something else like a little bit of cheese/yoghurt or nuts. Or veggies. The idea is not to have carbs on their own. And rule number 2 that's even more important for breakfast. So think about what you have been doing for breakfast, i don't know about you, personnally i love oatmeal for breakfast buuuttt .... In terms of blood sugar the gluose goddess says it's great IF TAKEN AS = a dessert of a more proteined breakfast (unless your oatmeal contains eggs! And/or another combination rich in protein) _ breakfast burritos with rice black beans and cheese are cheap and they are a good example of ready to go meal , even better if you eat a little bit of veggies before you have it. That's what it means to eat carbs '' fully clothed ''
Your health journey will probably benefit greatly from learning the specifics of your ADHD , i know ADHDers also tend to binge on sugar to get the < dopamine high > that they need. _ so it's very helpful to learn other ways to get a dopamine high of course. But also i think the method of the glucose goddess aka the glucose revolution might be very satisfying and motivating for you ! Because she says it isn't necessary to cut on the carbs you love, just eat them SMARTER . What she teaches isn't a diet because it's eating the same foods but in a different order (and put clothes on your carbs.) so you still can get your dopamine hit but MAKE IT SAFE in term of health and bodyweight.
Body builders do a lot of mealprepping with chicken + rice + broccoli and they are champions of chicken marinades to make it not only healthy but truly tasty and enjoyable.
Personnally i like to cook my rice together with green lentils for an added bonus of proteins sometimes!
Rice because it's easy for meal prepping ! And it's tasty and goes well with chicken and broccoli. (Of course all veggies all rice casseroes all sources of proteins are welcome.) _ chicken because it's cheaper than beef and it's just as good in term of protein content.
I am the type of person which, either babbles indefinitely about their passions , or thinks A LOT before talking. Now that you have said you have ADHD i have been thinking , and thinking , and thinking ! :-D but that's okay that's totally okay !! It's stimulating ! :-)

Nooo , I have actually made a list about the things u said. And, since u said you r majoring in nutrition , it's extra help, adterall u seem to be expert in your field.
So, you were absolutely right about the fact, I DO tend to consume a lot of sugar, due to the dopamine hits , it calms me down. No other good tastes whether it's salty or spicy, I always come back to something sugary.
Btw a great news , I didn't consume any sugar from last 2 days , expect a cup of Chai, I have missed atleast 3 months of periods , I got it yesterday mrng . So i guess your top helped me . And as I have read in my cource that hyperglycemia may result in irregular menstruation as well, since I did STOP CONSUMING it , was it reason ?

Of course you can eat beef and pork it's simply that it's gonna be expensive if you just eat everything beef and pork the whole day Also generally body builders go for what they call '' lean proteins '' and '' lean meats '' with exceptions for familly gatherings and special days in the week : the main reason , is ! because ! It's easier that way to keep track of the amount of fat they add in their food, within a day. (the body needs approx 2 table spoons of fats half of that can be butter / tallow / lard / coconut fat) it's easier when you cook you use these fats for cooking. And the rest of the fats are coming from olive oil and other healthy oils on your salads or in your ranch dressing / vinaigrette. _ see ? It's not that we cannot eat fats we NEED fats to make a diet sustainable. Because fats are satiating + the body uses them and needs them for plenty of thing
That's was such a good explanation , do really do know your stuffs. They how do you balanced it out ? Cz I can't have chicken and egg everyday, due to my religion . I rarely go out for food or any takeout , since am saving up . But even when I do buy anything , it always comes back to either chocolate or cakes , like those HIGH SUGAR -RUSH foods . And the worst part it, I feel so damn guilty buying them .
How do you avoid it ? You know the urge to have something sugary , esp when u r anxious ?

Carrots !! :-) you could totally chew on raw carrots as a meal starter !! :-) yesterday, i have seen a dietician that specialises in reversing diabetes with proper nutrition intervention, and they say carrots are sweet but so rich in fiber that they are neutral to blood sugar !! So that's what we are looking for. _ i believe you could also use RAW sweet potatoes for the same reason (they are delicious! I love them raw too, have you tried it ?)
If they are cooked, the cellulose walls of the cells become softer and the carbs of those sweet roots is more available, in that case they would count as carbs >>> '' end of the meal. '' if we are to follow the glucose goddess guidance. _ :-) do you like carrots ??
There is so much wisdom in Asian culinary ancient traditions things like fish sauce, or other fermented sauce like soy sauce and miso paste, tofu, eating seaweeds and pickled veggetables, or nuts (sesame, peanuts) as rice topping, or chewing dried fish and dried squid :-D as a snack :-D or having the rice cool down and then stir fry it with eggs and veggies, and eat it in a lettuce wrap. Yum! _ an egg with pickled vegetables or beaten cucumber salad are great for meal prepping and great toppings to give clothings to white rice _ (white rice is okay for weight loss but fully clothed and don't wolf it down with tons of mayo okay?? :-D
Sweet fruits are great ! They count as carbs >>> end of the meal , and they make great deserts !
Do you like frozen fruits ? I love eating frozen bits of mango or banana for desert, or frozen grapes! I buy them when they are in season i think they taste way better than fruit sorbet :-oo i truly love eating fruits and frozen fruits just as much, for variety ! Do you eat frozen fruits ? Which ones ?
Tomatoes / cherry tomatoes and cucumber also make a great meal starter. So juicy! _ easy to grab _ (don't forget the salt) _

It can be also that your taste buds need a little time to '' come back '' coz it's totally true than taste buds can be saturated with sugar, that and in that case they won't find other foods that atttactive! I mean it doesn't necessarily means you will never enjoy snacking on raw stems and leaves ;-pp _ PS : i enjoy cucumber juice with tiny pinch of salt or sugar ;-) that's an asian thing to put sugar in cucumber juice, i love it! _ it also count as meal stater.

I totally get what you are saying, i am a woman too and i have experienced bad period days all my life, usually on the first 2 days you can find me in bed :-D _ i have been rolling my eyes everytime I see TV ads for menstruation pads or tampons where the woman is rollerskating looking so free and relaxed, or goes to the swimming pool with a huge smile on her face, it's amazing that they like to picture a woman having a blast while on her periods, "thanks to miracle menstruation pads", she is so energetic that she goes shopping all afternoon with her friends and then she even goes dancing at the club :-D x-) that never cease to amaze me! That's definitely not me!
Some of us are very lucky and don't even know how it feels. well good for them ! ;-) ok then i am not worried have a good rest . isn't it great to see the return of normal hormonal function ;-) ;-)
So, I took your suggestion and watch few yt videos from Dr. Huberman , and it makes all sense to me now. He also suggested to take up on small portions of meals , but multiples times a day, which actually helps to burn calories much more faster.
Instead of just gobbling up everything in one go , and also helps to digest faster
Ohhh carrots! I love them , esp raw as well. I have never tried raw sweet potato though , I tend to eat it roasted or cooked it in soups and curries.
But you r right carrot is such an effortless snack. I have seen some dieticians said, to roost it or air fry it, but I think it tastes way better raw. And it still has all the nutritious moisture locked in it
Oh, your place's heat must be also unbearable. Mine is very tropical country. And to answer your question, no I don't have lactose intolerance, infact I do drink milk once in a while. ( I still want to grow tall T . T )

Hello you !! thinking about you :-) !! I was truly amazed that you could keep a low added sugar = low refined sugar for two days, well done you!! And i believe chai tea is really a great treat. Better than soda. ! Because it has whole milk in it, usually, yes? and the nutrients in the WHOLE milk truly helps make a difference in using the sugar. Here where i live, chai tea isn't part of our cultural tradition, but nowadays we can buy boxes of chai spices, to make it at home :-o so i was curious , but had no idea of the traditionnal way , so i just did what i usually do to prepare tea, i just put the spices in a glass and poured boiling water over it ! (The spice mix came without black tea leaves) _ as my parents never ever add anything to hot beverages, nothing, no nothing (neither milk neither butter neither sugar) so i also have the habbit to drink plain hot tea. So i added nothing. Just spices and hot water :-o have you tried it already ?? i thought this it's really good !! :-))) it's also good prepared that way. :-) !!! That's good to know, if you like chai tea ! I believe chai tea prepared traditionnally (when whole milk and brown sugar are added, with the black tea leaves too, that makes a great dessert after a meal. Yes it's a bit sugary but if we are talking about weightloss, there is way less white sugar in chai than a serving of chocolate cake. And it's truly envigorating and satisfying, right ? And if you take it right after a whole meal it won't spike the blood sugar that much. Same thing if you really '' have to '' drink soda sometimes. But chai is better for you ! _
I am just like you !! I cannot stand the hot chilli peppers in curry neither :-/ but i 100% love hot spices like the chai mix and also ginger and garlic :-ooo and my body loves it too !!! :-) _ (and also mustard seeds, they are the type of '' hot '' and '' warming '' spices thanks i can have. I looove a traditionnal homemade curry paste with fresh ginger galanga and '' everything but hot chilly peppers '' :-D !! :-) my favourite is the green curry paste, with the coriander :-ooo it's so gooOood !!! But the yellow curry paste is also great with just lentils + rice + al dente carrots + fresh coriander as a topping :-ooOoOo i am so impressed by the curry Nations ! :-)
I'm in a bit of a different situation, basically because of a chronic illness if i eat sugar i get fucked up. thats in any form, bread, sugar, whatever. so i have to live basically keto out of necessity. that said, zevia sugar free soda (actually good), lakanto monk fruit sweetener(they have these bomb ass sugar free chocolate covered almonds), and the ability to cook/ bake has saved my whole existence. also almond flour. almond flour pancakes and muffins are pretty good. cant eat bread though :C

I'm 21. And I wasn't able to get into any university this time. I feel like, I don't deserve anything good in my life. All of my 60% friends have already graduated. And I'm here, can't even get into my sophomore.
I thought about ending it all. I still think so. But am not brave enough. It feels like, every door has been closed.
Last night I realised, I'm even subconsciously restricting myself from breathing properly , because again , I feel like I don't deserve it .

Cher you’re putting so much pressure on yourself over something you can’t control , don’t compare yourself to others that’s will just do you harm, I understand your frustration but don’t let it gets over you , you still can find your way in life it’s okay if it’s take some time because everyone is different , just find something that you’re interested in and try to figure things out , if it doesn’t work it’s okay just try something else, life is filled with so much possibilities you can try it , finally don’t worry about other judging you because who cares about what they think when you are literally trying to find your way it’s on them for being dumb and inconsiderate and try feeling good about themselves on your account ! Your life doesn’t have to follow a straight line like others maybe do. When I was 21 I thought I had found my way in life. Turned out later I’d studied something, that put me in a job I despised and here I am, 32, starting anew, while others my age are at their goals in life (or so it feels). But you know what? Many of them are bored out of their mind because their paths never really strayed from the main road. Your life can’t be over at 21. Don’t let this setback get to you this way. Go for a walk if you have to get away from nagging parents for the moment. Let yourself breathe. And don’t pressure yourself with thinking about career paths or worse, comparing yourself to others.
You will find your way again, even if it doesn’t look that way right now.
And you’ll be so much stronger afterwards.
Fight this. You’ve got this. And it will be okay.
I understand you, trust me. Most of my classmates from school already have jobs, or are doing internship rn. I cleared and entrance exam last year and started my sophomore year. I'm 21 as well. The world won't end just bcz you start a bit late. Please cheer up, things will get better. You can try applying into other courses that interest you. You're more capable thank you think.
Hey don`t feel so down! life is just like that sometimes, always trying to trip you into the mud, and sometimes, people need a bit more time and help to get up. If you feel sad or depressed, you should never have to deal with that alone! talk to your family or friends or even a pet dog or cat! Talk a walk, or go outside for a while! Its okay if you get mud on you face, cuz eventually, it will be washed off. Sorry is my mud metaphor sounds a little goofy, hope you know that even people that you don`t know on the internet support you!!!
I get how you feel. After i graduated high school my health has deteriorated tremendously. because of that i couldnt go to college, or even really get a job. I live with my parents. The job thing can be a bit embarrassing but i dont let the other things bother me. I know it isnt exactly the same thing, but i think you just need to make the most of your situation. If you live with your parents still, good for you. use the support available to pursue something you wouldn't be able to if you were supporting yourself on your own. now is the time to think, and to pursue passions and ideas. get yourself a job if you want or need to, but use your extra time to consider your options. You are in a very enviable position! you could do art, or music. the possibilities are endless. College is overrated anyway! it costs a house and when you get out all the entry level jobs will ask for 7 years experience, its ridiculous.
if you still want to go to school, you can save up for it! or look into apprenticeships, or vocational schools! (i went to a vocational high school, they have voca schools for after high school too, much, MUCH cheaper!)
its easy to tell someone to be happy, but thats isnt how it works, i understand that more than anybody. but what i can tell you, is that it would be wise to shift your perspective, and know that I'm rooting for you!
