Aww this was cute. These stories usually have the top abuse the bottom, but here they were both consenting and the bottom was actually enjoying (even if they had kind of an ambiguous start). So this was kind of refreshing. The Duke's honesty was good to see too.
Now, why did they have to ruin it with abusing the Duke so much and making everybody assault him so much? It's like authors love to make their MCs suffer.
It's so disappointing. If you like: good world building, an interesting story, vengeance from injustice, character development, MC standing up for himself, a happy ending... DON'T read this story any further. Just another case of beautiful art wasted on one of those awful toxic yaoi novels.
Zigril doesn't have ONE redeeming quality aside from his appearance and fighting skills.
Kay is such a pushover it will piss you off, but thinking it over he's just a victim all along. He has terrible luck and he doesn't really have much of a choice in anything. It's very sad, truly. The author making him skip a beat whenever Zigril mentions love is laughable and offensive.
Zigril has the guts to get OFFENDED when Kay wanted to go back to his homeland, again when he tried to escape after realizing he was pregnant, and once again when he said he didn't marry because he wanted to.
He's not a good lover, not a good person, not a good emperor, and not even a good father.
He even had the guts to threaten Kay with killing himself and the child because he was offended by Kay's denial and the author tried to make us think this was his way of showing he was a changed man just because he didn't threaten to kill Kay instead, lmao
Then there's an extra with Schumann fucking his half brother for money and they're secretly in love or something, I don't know what the fuck was that.
Don't do like me and don't waste time pursuing this story any further. This ruined my night.
Hot take: I know the climax wasn't all about their relationship, but I hated how when they finally did the deed, Yaehoon looks like he's suffering the whole time? He's just being handled, looks like he's being forced to do it.
Just saying, but it wasn't nice to see, sorry. He even says it feels like punishment.
Very disappointing considering they've been pointing to this moment since the beginning. I wasn't exactly expecting lovey-dovey from them, but at least something more passionate.

Chapter 63 when he puts the scarf on Jeong-nim in case he's cold and Jeong-nim gives him his hat to cover his bed hair and it's all done so naturally.... Hnghhhh
Their plushies are so cute too <3
