King's Maker finished a long time ago but oh god was I disappointed with it's third season. Now, I've been saying my opinion and such regarding this matter but it truly did dawn on me, why did the third season not work out for me?

As someone who has bought the ones on tappytoon and as a personal fan of the series itself, it struck to me how the way of the story changed from the first season to it's last. The first story was amazing, the second one I am not much of a fan but it did deliver, but for some reason the third one doesn't just work out that well for me.

And I think it simply just goes down to the way it handles the characters and the story itself. The first one has an even paced out roster where we get to meet the character one by one and understand how they affect the story. The second does the same thing as well but the difference is the theme of the story which is strong on it's own but comparatively weaker than the ones before it. Now, the third one on the hand does have a new character, but the problem with it is that the characters are explained in ways that is not interesting. Because of the shock factor of the first and second season, the third season just feels like a side story which it probably is.

But I think what is suffers from the most is cohesion. The story feels all over the place. Similar to the first and second season, it's leading up to a moment. Finally finding peace and democracy ig is the main moment here but it just feels off. Not that democracy is bad, but the pacing towards it. What do you mean you made a literal King from magic? It just feels off. The puzzle pieces were there where Wolfgang lost his magic and so on and so forth but it just didn't deliver. At this point it just feels like an Au where Wolfgang and Shin had a child.

Now speaking of the child. Boy where do I even start. First of all, her relationship with Wolfgang and Shin. You cannot look me in the eye and say that is their child because it isn't. It wasn't Shin's DNA but it is connected to Wolfgang. Great, but what about found family? That's a trope the author can explore. Nope, it doesn't. In fact, they feel more like her guardian than her parents, specially Shin who feels just like here tutor. Not once did I feel the found family vibe. While I understand the main point of adding her into the story, it just feels short. She is an awesome character but what drags her down for is the story itself. I have already seen a great King lead and how he was made to be King, so now at this point, her story becomes uninteresting. But the main point could be that since Wolfgang was such a great King, his predecessors didn't have to struggle with the throne. But even then that just lowers her value even more. Everything was laid right in front of her and all she has to do was to improve her personal being and connection and that's interesting and all but it just come out as boring when you stack the ones that came before it.

Overall, it's mid at best. Obviously there are other issues like pacing and unnecessary side plots, but these are the ones that just feels the most obvious to me. It's cute that Shin and Wolfgang can finally rest and have their honeymoon times together, but it's unfortunate that their relationship wasn't expanded with the new king (God I can't remember any of their names). The last season feels like a side story to me since there is no overarching plot and it's not as heavy as before, like a breather. But it really just feels off to me. Would've enjoyed it more if it was better executed rather than feeling like i've been stuck on a subplot for ages.
