The only thing standing between Kallum and the throne is going mad. Mehleil just makes everything easier for Kallum to step up his game. Still, it's very sad, because they have to fight each other. But I don't think Kallum will let that happen, for their mother.

The whole story is literally showing why Soo Won is the best ruler for kouka despite his way to achieve it. Yona herself knew it and conflicted of how to face that fact (her hate for her father's murderer and the fact that his father was useless and his death really brings the best condition for the people of kouka). Yet, too many people still mindlessly hate him. Before reading this comment section, I thought fiction readers are the most capable of understanding other's pov, but I was wrong. I never say Soo Won is right, but he certainly not the type of person who did something without 100th thought.
I respect your point of view, but I don’t believe those of us who dislike Soo Won do so entirely without cause.
He has his merits as a leader yes. But that does not dismiss the peaceful rule of king IL before him. His murderers accuse him of being useless, but a king that would avoid war at all costs is bound to fail those who pursue it. They alleged he killed Soo Wons’ father but up to this point all we have is hearsay.
And until now we haven’t seen Soo Won fix this failing nation, as you’d expect from the new king who was so eager to get to the position. Every single trouble facing the nation, Yoona and her friends were always there first, on the ground helping the people, while Soo Won dilly dallied behind with his advisors. I wouldn’t presume to know if he would have succeeded in rebuilding the nation he wanted to rule over without Yoona and her dragons.
To dismiss the biggest qualm we have against this new king just like that, is unquestionably absurd. his utter betrayal of his most faithful friends, the girl who loved him, who mind you both wanted him to end up as king, just so what? He could ascend the throne faster? Even if your time was limited, that betrayal should not by any means go unpunished. The fact that he misses those friends attests to his humanity I give you that. But still, he didn’t just assassinate the king, he unleashed his insane advisors on his friends, who chased them out of there home and tried to have them killed, what a great and wonderful king he is.

Everything that is not yet revealed/confirmed by the author is merely an assumption. I don't dislike the hate towards Soo Won as long as it's not based on assumptions. I wont pretend I know his reasons, I just stating my interpretation on Soo Won's circumstances as objectivelly as I can based on the plot and characterizations. Everybody is free to built an opinion, like or dislike, but IMO it would be better after trying to understand many POVs. I just rather sad reading many comments stating hate so confidently. It's like seeing a small sample of how people living in this world that already full of hatred easily jump on board on the hate train. Sorry if I offended many Won haters.

I merely wanted to point out that disliking the character is not baseless or without reason in accordance with the information given so far, as for the future, were are only left to speculate about the authors direction.
I agree we have reached a time where cancel culture is very real and prevalent in society. I have no intention of contributing to it.
Is it just me or the recent problem solving methods are becoming more and more humanely impossible? Like the bullet through altered-by-soccer-ball pile in the balcony... I still enjoy the cases and the main plot, but some chapter's logic/reaction can be quite illogical. Other example is like when Ai "malfunctioning" over a keychain doll...
