Ummm... so why is that bad if she acknowledges her son as an omega? It’s just who Doyun is. Her son’s born like that and that’s why she’s happy for him. She gotta accept her son’s gender cuz it’s just who he is. His heat’s gonna happen anytime soon and the family doesn’t know when so she just feels happy that at least Doyun could expect when his other heat comes so as to prevent something bad happening. Also, this „being an omega is a pain in the ass“-thinking is exactly the thing the writers/mangaka want us to NOT to have (I mean in most omegaverse stories it’s always about omegas trying to get recognized by society or fighting their typical mindset and ofc accepting themselves). In this particular webtoon they already achieve that.

Reading thru these comments it appears some folks forgot Doyun's mom is an omega herself. The way this story plays out is she had all these alpha sons and just wanted to have an omega like herself that she could dress up in cute clothes and bond with. Mom was obviously sheltered and met Doyun's dad early on and likely never saw the omegaverse darkside but if she was aware of omegaverse darkside one would wonder why she'd want to see her kid go through that.

the fact that she literally said “Finally” (while also smiling) when she found out that her son was developing as an omega means that she actually hoped and wished for her son to become an omega.
That’s not something to wish for. And certainly not rejoice about.
What would make sense to rejoice about is if he didn’t develop as an omega and finding out that the doctor(s) falsely assigned him his gender when he was young and then finding out they he was a beta all along.

Being an omega means that you’re more or less a slave to your heat cycles and pheromones. Your body weakens, your mind goes numb and hazy, basically the chances of getting raped fucking skyrockets. I’m not saying that being an omega can’t be good, I’m just saying there’s a huge downside to it.
That’s why it fucking baffles me that the mom seems so pleased about it.
You can love and accept someone and still feel bad for them.
