Gareth is such a complex character; he's the person I want to support the most. He ironically has the most depth to his characterization so it feels all the more bitter to not see an ending deserving of such complexity. This is not to say that a good ending is where he gets to make up with everyone or get a happy ending where his name is cleared. I don't blame the sequence of events that transpired or how Jack's group acted. While you could say that they should have been better people, should they really be morally obligated to do that? Because it's the better way, correct and good? Everything has a cause and effect, no matter what our intentions were in every step we made. People are so complex that what we put out into the world will never accurately depict who we are. It's just a matter of whether you are good or bad, or if it was correct or wrong. And that's why it's so bitter. He is a perfect example of a morally grey yet real character, and that's why it's so easy to empathize with him and his circumstances. He's a person who isn't really bad, but isn't really good either. But we can still see his good, which leaves a bitter aftertaste. This is also probably why the author could not make a satisfying ending for him.
I talked a lot about Gareth, but my favorite character is actually the MC! Violett is right, there is something attractive about her. I like her a lot because she has this sense of assuredness about herself that feels so comforting. She feels complete about just being herself, not minding other people and it feels good to be with people like that. While it feels like the dynamic was really fast with Jack I just found it really funny haha. Wish there was more sexy action though....
I'd be up for a season 2 just so I could see more if Gareth's life, see where he's gonna go from here.
Gareth literally stalked Jack, found out about him and Leslie, stalked Leslie and faked a meeting between them, faked being head over heals for her(no I don’t care that he ended up falling for her) THEN when he was confronted instead of telling the truth he just accused everyone instead of being a rational human being. Plus he was not in the right state of mind to even be in a relationship and doesn’t deserve Leslie at all!!
You can have your own opinion of the character. Whether someone (and a fictional character at that) deserves another or not, it's a subjective opinion. Personally, that's not something I consider when reading.
If you read my comment properly, I have never excused nor patronized the actions of Gareth. I never supported what he did, but I personally don't view actions as black and white, nor do I think that what people do completely determines who they are and their full character. If you could look at the character itself as an individual and not as a good or bad person based on moral judgements, it might be easier to understand what I meant by morally gray. It's so easy to pinpoint what people did wrong or right and weigh it on a moral scale, but it's not easy to see past that and the humanity of the individual.
I'm all up for free love and I dont give a damn abt huge age gaps at all, but this still just bothers me I could read about a 10-20-30 yr age gap and be fine. It's not about the age gap but the ML's issues. His love is mixed with emotional dependency/desperation from a lot of childhood mother/parent issues. It feels real off coz MC co-raised him with her daughter in a sort of semi-family dynamic. They saw each other everyday for a long period and MC had a real connection to him as a semi-parent/guardian from ML's perpective. Even the present dynamic feels like fulfilling mother issues through MC. Not to mention how his desperation became toxic morality/emotional blackmail, which appeared as a real threat for MC with her relationship to her daughter (lowkey disgusted by that move ngl).
Anyw I did read it still, the sex scenes were chef kiss juicy and treating the morality of it as part of the drama was what entertained me. No hate to anyone who enjoyed it but I'm giving context to why ppl (and me) got disturbed, peace xoxo
I agree that she can be absolutely frustrating and you feel like shaking the living lights out of her, but guess what: this is one of the best depictions of the healing process in any of the webtoons out.
As one of the many who are going through or have went through the same it is DAMN HARD to heal. You will deal with it possibly your whole life. Real life progress is not linear. You will fail time and time again, and also win sometimes. We all just try our best everyday to be better versions of ourselves, she's doing great.
Ch4 - man its still early and its just a manga but i lowkey hate the extreme ideology and its taking away from the enjoyment
The point of the manga is to create/to be the best striker in the world, I got no problem with that.
It's not like I don't like the story; it's enjoyable and I still read it (I'm almost 200 now since reading yesterday). I Just hate the rather forceful implementation of 'cutting off people's futures for that one gem'. As far as I've read, the author can write and add drama without being intentionally extremist.
SCREAMING SEEING COURTNEY ON TOP OF HER GAME LIKE QUEEEENNN SISSSSS!!!! MOMMYYYY ε=ε=(ノ≧∇≦)ノ
