Gareth is such a complex character; he's the person I want to support the most. He ironically has the most depth to his characterization so it feels all the more bitter to not see an ending deserving of such complexity. This is not to say that a good ending is where he gets to make up with everyone or get a happy ending where his name is cleared. I don't blame the sequence of events that transpired or how Jack's group acted. While you could say that they should have been better people, should they really be morally obligated to do that? Because it's the better way, correct and good? Everything has a cause and effect, no matter what our intentions were in every step we made. People are so complex that what we put out into the world will never accurately depict who we are. It's just a matter of whether you are good or bad, or if it was correct or wrong. And that's why it's so bitter. He is a perfect example of a morally grey yet real character, and that's why it's so easy to empathize with him and his circumstances. He's a person who isn't really bad, but isn't really good either. But we can still see his good, which leaves a bitter aftertaste. This is also probably why the author could not make a satisfying ending for him.
I talked a lot about Gareth, but my favorite character is actually the MC! Violett is right, there is something attractive about her. I like her a lot because she has this sense of assuredness about herself that feels so comforting. She feels complete about just being herself, not minding other people and it feels good to be with people like that. While it feels like the dynamic was really fast with Jack I just found it really funny haha. Wish there was more sexy action though....
I'd be up for a season 2 just so I could see more if Gareth's life, see where he's gonna go from here.
Gareth literally stalked Jack, found out about him and Leslie, stalked Leslie and faked a meeting between them, faked being head over heals for her(no I don’t care that he ended up falling for her) THEN when he was confronted instead of telling the truth he just accused everyone instead of being a rational human being. Plus he was not in the right state of mind to even be in a relationship and doesn’t deserve Leslie at all!!
You can have your own opinion of the character. Whether someone (and a fictional character at that) deserves another or not, it's a subjective opinion. Personally, that's not something I consider when reading.
If you read my comment properly, I have never excused nor patronized the actions of Gareth. I never supported what he did, but I personally don't view actions as black and white, nor do I think that what people do completely determines who they are and their full character. If you could look at the character itself as an individual and not as a good or bad person based on moral judgements, it might be easier to understand what I meant by morally gray. It's so easy to pinpoint what people did wrong or right and weigh it on a moral scale, but it's not easy to see past that and the humanity of the individual.
I only have very little memories of this manga, and some of them I'm unsure of. What I'm sure of though is uke is a working adult and seme is a student very attached to him. He's known the seme since he was young. I'm not sure but I think the seme was adopted / was a kid from a close family relative or friend. Seme guilt trips the adult uke for his feelings, and seme feels guilt. Later on seme rapes uke I think. Uke experiences emotional trauma and a close coworker notices his unstable condition. I think this coworker had feelings for him too. Later on (not sure), their parent/s die? I just kinda remember something big happening take that with a grain of salt haha. Thanks in advance
