i have unironically met MULTIPLE people who think like this doing the job i have, many of them being manhwa / comic artists, hell I've met an artist/author who made a front page toxic BL and she is genuinely into it

Countries have banned shotacon and lolicon from being published even if its in a manga or its fiction why do you think that is? Because it breeds people who begin to normalise those things this is why authors and illustrators of comics shud be held responsible when they try to promote such social evils

comparing SA to shotacon/lolicon isn’t valid because while both are crimes in real life, only one is actually harmful to consume as fiction. shotacon/ lolicon r pedophilic works that depict children in an inappropriate way, and they can contribute to real-world exploitation. however, im not saying your overall point is wrong, just that the comparison doesn’t work. stories that include SA often portray it as something terrible, not something to be encouraged (sadly not the case for this story).

anyways, that’s why bans on shotacon/ lolicon exist, to protect children. reading about SA in fiction doesn’t make someone a rapist, but consuming content that sexualizes children crosses a moral and legal line.

but at the same time, ppl who use “it’s just fiction” to excuse stories that glorify SA r also in the wrong. while fiction can explore dark topics, there’s a difference between portraying something as wrong & actively promoting it. just cus something isn’t real doesn’t mean it has no impact.

I was not trying to compare the two issues because they entail very different levels of severity. But I do agree with you SA if written as a harmful deed is not wrong it is important that we address that it’s wrong if being depicted in any form of media but pedophilia is just wrong and nothing can justify depicting children in provocative positions. I’m sorry if it came off as comparing.

in most manhwa (like these) its not even portrayed and acknowledged as rape, its so normalized and it makes authors comfortable in making these

authors adding random rape scenes in works that r supposed to be fluffy & wholesome is weird. it’s like they can’t write angst without adding it :/
however i think at the same time, the way that it was added in this bl wasn’t rlly trying to glorify it. it was a pretty scary chapter, even at the end it seemed like jaeyi was regretting it.
idk what author is planning to do in s2 but a ‘redemption’ arc will not work for jaeyi
