The tags scare me; there is rape, but is it romanticized and graphic, or subtle and seriously talked about, not just a plot device to romanticize?
Hibari's mother was too a victim of misogyny, she is defining herself by her body and sexualising herself as she feels this is the only way to be valued. It also seems that she competes with her daughter, another example of internalised ageism and misogyny. That's what makes this story so powerful, it's not just how the men objectify the female characters, but of how the FL's interact with each other absorbing the misogyny of society. Hibari's uncle's ex also was an important character and highlighting the sexism that young women face.
The author also was highlighting how normalised all of these interactions are (bar the sexual abuse, but she was extremely realistic in the victim blaming and the lack of justice). Readers are saying the uncle was a good guy, yet in reality he treated Hibari and his ex girlfriend awfully.
The only thing wrong with this story is the fact, like most of Yamashita Tomoko's non BL works, that it's not available to buy in English, so international readers can show their support to such an important piece of work.
Not going to continue this cause the first Two pages itself made me sob... Can't take more of the cruel reality - seeing animals malnourished and foraging all day long with deep deep pain , fatigue, sadness and this very very small glimmer of hope that maybe someday such a life will come to an end - I wonder what that end means to them .

Kitaoji sure picked out a shoujo romance for sure with Arima. Such an indecisive whore bitch who hangs out with his ex letting him touch him and stuff I just hate this. Dropped this cuz why are all these bitches the same? You get insecure so you do something that makes your partner insecure WOW MAKES SENSE. JUST. FUCKING. TALK.
