The female protagonist who is a drop dead gorgeous woman with a nice personality and seems to be good student, should start higher her standards instead of holding on that apathetic guy who is indeed unfair and cruel, as he loves playing with women's hearts by giving them false hopes and later crushing them down.
He is "I love you me neither" kind of guy. Must be avoided at all costs.
The female protagonist should stop with the "I can fix him" rethoric.

Upto the recent chapters, it was known that Ml's mom (forgot her name) used to teach at the orphanage and MC was one of her students. The stepbro guy (violet eyes) mom had a hand in that murder case which was disguised as an accident and ML saw his mom going inside the fire which appeared in the orphanage. At first, he also thought it was an accident (I could be wrong) and some of the leads the police got back then were weak. It was only when someone close to MC (I think it was his aunt, not Violet eye guy's mom) discovered some belongings of ML's mom and further personal search done by MC on an already cold case that some guy who spilled his secrets at a bar/pub was found with his friends and from there, some clues were found.
ML felt that MC was hiding something and he had known his job as a persecutor. So he did his own research of his mom's death, which later on turned into resentment for the MC's adoptive family (Violet eye guy's one) MC HID the matter so ML didn't go the cruel way of killing them as revenge. Moreover, he thought that Vio. guy's mom would die from cancer eventually, so he didn't take action though they knew MC suspected them of their past crimes. ML confronted MC about his mom's matter, but MC retaliates with his own and it goes past the lvl of enmity. ML stabbed him and vio. guy discovered him in a pool of his own blood, while ML escapes.
Seven years later, in news she was shown to have battled against cancer (stage 2 if I recall) and succeeded and she got a position back, the ML therefore trapped MC as there was no longer any need to keep him company and wait for his existence in the past. He took his matters into his own hands, went overseas to meet an aunt in Germany, learnt the ways and came back to extract vengeance on the culprits.
