Does anyone have theories abt what will be the cause of their relationship falling apart and for Yeongwoon specifically to reach the breaking point that we saw in the first panel of episode 1?
I'm one of the ppl who've read the novel already and I cannot describe how freaking excited I am for this adaptation. Especially with C.R JADE as the artist, it looks incredible!
I won't spoil, but their first intimate scene in the novel made my knees buckle.. T_T One for the history books
I get it if for some ppl the pace didn't go as they'd have preferred. But imagine if Jk didn't have sex with Dan before this huge match. It would be completely OOC, complicate things to a convoluted degree, and fuck up the developments and following events.
As far as narrative goes this approach makes the most sense AND theres nothing even notably problematic about it, just the moderate risks of Dan feeling anxious. At least through his anxiety/confusion over all these new attitudes of Jk towards him and his role now, he's is being shown through something they've done so many times before that he's wanted sexually and now there's more to it than just the dry need of the jinx. Again, his jinx also hasn't just disappeared into thin air, did u expect him to tough it out even though he's lived like that for so many years, especially before a match like this or to go fuck someone else?? Let's be real, none of that would fit his character at this point and the time he's spent changing for the better would no way justify that drastic a shift as to just forget abt the jinx altogether. At most, he's made the jinx be linked to Dan alone.
All in all, I'm personally fine with an imperfect Jk taking this as a step forward for now. Anything more would be extremely unlike Jk and I'm not reading a story just to force a character who has issues make a sudden 180 and be the role model of a healthy partner.
This story just makes me sad. I can tell many other readers enjoy it and the art and writing are undeniably good and captivating. But the plot just isn't for me, sex work doesn't interest me much in general, especially the way it's been explored here, nor do I find the characters' choices and lives intriguing enough to keep following the developments. From my pov all I see are ppl struggling, but relying on lies and/or stereotypes to keep living disingenuously even when they're supposedly coming to a "revelation" about themselves and I know that's a biased interpretation, so I'd rather drop it than keep being disappointed at something not aimed at me.
I even bought 20ch at once, I should've just read it here first to see if I like it or not :(
You'd think that with Shinjoo being constantly rejected/criticized when he says that he likes multiple ppl silmutaneously, it would give him a clue that he should either find a better way to explain what that means OR that most ppl don't tend to think that way and so he's got to be prepared that they'll find it off-putting at least.
Why's he acting so shocked that Youngjoo would think it means he's being played?! T_T
And Youngjoo was so real for the mid-fuck self-read, falling for a pretty face when its owner is dumb as a brick
We knew he was her son. But the implications of her being involved with him ending up in that shitty company and now she's helped them again to capture Hikaru.
Nah, bitch needs to go idfc what her excuses are.
Reading the latest raws, I just feel sad for everyone*. They all have their fears, their circumstances, their mistakes, their motivations, their yearning and their hopes. What a poignant time in everyone's story, the developments have been SO intense, one after another.
*Except for Jamie, that fucker needs to go.
How selfishly cruel can he be... Is he only looking for Yeonjo to ask him the reason why he stayed alive, convinced he changed his mind for him?! I'm worried that if he doesn't find him, he'll either use Moonwon to threaten him OR he'll be found by Hee-ryang's enemies first T_T
Ch 56, Luke is actually starting to piss me off. I get that he trusts people have more good in them than bad, but Bruno didn't just make some "mistakes", he intentionally and continuously agreed to do things that harm Luke, to benefit himself.
Maybe bc he sees Andrew's hesitations to interact more with and trust others, he's trying to overcompensate by sticking to his "people are generally good, look at me who believes in everyone" schtick in hopes that Andrew won't get even more suspicious of others or affected by worries. But still, Luke is straight up in denial at this point, it IS that serious.
I personally think the author is very good at showing us that both of them process incidents through very anxious lenses and that always affects how they communicate. Thus they're trying to change the other to respectively meet each other's "security" standards in life.
One is afraid of ppl harming Luke bc these have been his experiences and it's his priority to protect his life, while the other is afraid Andrew won't be part of a community that - even if it's superficial - stick to each other and harmoniously coexist, with the least possible conflict.
Hence, neither of them is really allowed to be who they are, bc even small deviations from what they each think is "safe" makes them anxious.
They have yet to really accept and trust each other, and that can only be done by understanding that there can be leeway in their views, 'different' doesn't equal 'danger of collapse of their whole system' and gradually asking/learning what each other needs and reaching compromises so they are fulfilled, while still not forcing unnecessary change onto the other. That way they'll also more likely be encouraged to acknowledge personal issues and make conscious changes as individuals, for their own well being.
Can you at least let us enjoy their freaking CONFESSION THAT TOOK THEM LIKE A DECADE?!? Stop with the ominous narration stopppp, LET THEM HAVE THIS
Regarding the art style changes, let's not forget this artist has had to change the way she drew the characters, Yujin especially after (what seem like unfounded) claims of plagiarism by another author. While Yangma did dispute the claims - none of which were proven legally - she still chose to shift her drawing in hopes of appeasing them and stopping constant letters and requests from the other artist.
So, we don't know what might be going on still behind the scenes, nor the length at which she's been affected by the situation. She could be still figuring out the look she wants to achieve, or it could be a temporary result for other reasons.
Whatever the case may be, I hope that if we have comments about the art (pos or neg), it could be done mindfully and not accompanied by insults toward the artist.

Hey, so about that castration and jail I was talking about last time, let me take that back. I'll just kill him, I'll just fucking kill that remorseless, useless rapist piece of trash, he doesn't deserve to take another breath.
Who DOES THAT SHIT. Jiho spent 6 years with him, drowning in self-hate, perpetuating the cycle of abuse and self-hatred that were the only things he knew were constant in his life and thought he was worth. But now that he made an effort to get out YOU COME TO DRAG HIM BACK IN THAT?!? Oh I'll take that mfer out
Here comes the red collar omgggg
He's slowly falling for him and releasing his own inner tiny little freak in the process. Going feral over them!
Also even if Shinjoo is playing it up so he'd be lenient with his antics, I'm sure he's honest abt his feelings for Youngjoo so that's enough for me!
And here I thought Bruno fessing up would be a good thing, cause at least Luke would find out the shit that his supposed "friend" was pulling. But is it just gonna focus on Andrew keeping stuff from him? :(
I mean, he's not wrong and Andrew has got to fix that habit of his, but please!! Luke has got to see how Andrew was trying to figure out a way that he'd be safe (even if he went abt it in a weird way) and he's even making efforts with his other friends.. Ugh the angst is so good.
