No bc we usually attract eachother. The amount of queer people I befriended w/o knowing they were queer is abt 90% of my social circle, why? Idk I like their vibes and oh surprise they're queer like me ┑(￣Д ￣)┍
Also in BL/GL usually the couples are either exs of the main couple or friends they met *because* they're queer too

I agree, literally the reason why I read GL is because I want to see lesbians in love, why the heck would I want a straight couple in there??
If I wanted a straight couple, I'd just read straight shit.

And most of the people complaining about no straight couples in GL/BL are the same people who lose their marbles when there is (VERY RARELY, I might add) a gay/lesbian couple in straight stories anyway.

Also most straight couples in BL/GL are boring asf, like "The Glass" had I think 2 straight couples who were absolute snoozefests and even sidelined the main, lesbian couple.

Omg this is just reminded me to pick up The Glass I dropped it quite a while ago i’m glad I’m not the only one who feels this way i’m not the biggest fan of straight couples in gl/bl

Tbh i disliked this cus of home five, but other than that most series does this so well! You made me open up my mind and you're right... Straight romance does that and nobody has a problem. But I assume is ig ppl still have that internalised homophobia within them because "straight" is considered the norm and that gays are "rare" even though they aren't (literally 90% of every woman I know are not straight) and it seems "natural" more for them if the couples are straights.

So i have heard several definitions of “pro-shipper”. Antis seem to describe it as being okay with any type of ship and being support of any type of ship. Like even pedophilic, incestuous, etc. So I figured I’m obviously not a pro-shipper.

My friends, who are pro-shippers, told me I am, because I fit their definition of the word: someone who doesn’t harass people based on their ships. I will absolutely judge some ships. I will sometimes judge people for having those ships. However, I will not go out of my way to harass anyone over their preferred fictional ship, even if I’m judging them over it.
So the definitions vary on who you ask: someone who is okay with and nonjudgmental of all ships or someone who doesn’t harass people regardless of their ships.

That’s not what I said, though. I said the definition is leaving them to it. Sure, some people DO always say "fiction is fiction and I don’t judge or think it reflects a person." For me when I hear “anti” I tend to think people who go out of their way to harass people who like ships they deem problematic as opposed to people who are like, “That person ships X and Y? Well that’s fucked up.” I have a ship that in my eyes is not problematic at all but antis were in a ship war with us and used our ship as an excuse to go on with anti rhetoric and it was some absolutely abhorrent behavior. So honestly, I don’t think antis are the good people in this scenario. Though again, this is all about what your own personal definition is. Some people will see me as an anti, some will see me as a pro-shipper.

i mean, i've been on ao3 for ages, both as a writer and a reader, but i've never gone out of my way to shit on proshippers, simply because i dont have enough energy for that. do i still find them disgusting? absolutely. i'm not gonna participate in the twitter feuds though. not being an 'active' anti doesnt not make me an anti though. i don't think you're a proshipper if u find even one of the ideas they support problematic. on the surface, proshippers will tend to defend themselves by saying antis wont let them have weird ships (imagine trump x putin, my personal otp btw) but it goes deeper than that. they also support pedophilia, the most messed up tags to ever exist (i'll give u one: inappropriate use of a newborn. and that's not even the tip of the iceberg) and whatnot. idk what ship u were attacked for, but it could be that some extreme antis who have a problem with literally everything did that. if ur ship doesnt contain anything that would be frowned upon irl, i dont think u should be attacked.
