Ok guys, I've recently gotten into tv series fandoms, like merlin and teen wolf fanfictions, and the one thing i notice is that they didn't put warnings on the synopsis for SWITCH! And also i'm guessing they didn't use the seme-first-then-uke pairing names like exp : MidoTaka & TakaMido which would also serve as warning... Is that they way it works? Thanks in advance~
I think (depending on the site you use) that the standard semexuke usually is used - but not always. Some will use tags (like on AO3) to describe the relationships (bottom v top), but I find that quite lacking of FanFiction.net. Some will also use a combination of the seme/ukes names but there they don't always distinguish the relationship - they just use what sounds best. I don't know if that helps at all.
Exactly! I was using FF.net. but even if the japanese BL fandom uses name combination they still keep the semexuke rule, like Shizaya and Izuo, but if I'm not mistaken hetero pairing doesn't have boyxgirl rule, maybe like that huh? It's just the SWITCH that's kinda bugging me coz i dislike them, and they threw it in the fic just like that and i was
(゚Д゚≡゚Д゚)?

Guys, can you guys please help me brainstorm, in the Japanese entertainment world, what kind of girlfriend would danger a young like early 20's model/actor's career? Well doesn't have to completely destroy it, just the type that's very hard to earn the fans and public's blessings? I was thinking, maybe a divorced older woman? Ex-prostitute? Rape-victim with a kid? Any other? Thanks (=・ω・=)
"Divorced older woman", "ex-prostitute", and especially "rape-victim with a kid" all have the potential to generate sympathy with the public.
The girlfriend would probably have to be someone *anyone* would normally find outwardly distasteful... like bad manners, vulgar/disrespectful speech, maybe dresses and acts inappropriately during formal or solemn occasions. They could still be a good person, but just not capable of good judgment.
I was thinking for the girlfriend to have some backgrounds/circumstances problems, not behavior problems.... The kind that would make the guy's agency think : " if our rising star is found to be deeply related to someone like this things could go awry...", but in the end they could still understand. But hey thanks a lot, anything else cross your thoughts? (*˙︶˙*)☆*°
Apparently so.
It seems the Yakuza are deeply entrenched in the entertainment industry in Japan, but there have been efforts recently to clean this up. Here is a snippet from an article about a well-known star (Shinsuke Shimada) who was found to have Yakuza connections and was fired.
From Variety: ["This stirred up a media storm of speculation about Shimada’s comeback, but Watanabe explained that “the president was expressing a wish … Shimada cannot come back until society forgives him for what he did, and we do not see that happening any time soon.”
Despite stories in the tabloid weeklies detailing his long, deep relationship with the Yamaguchi-gumi — Japan’s largest and most powerful gang — Shimada has yet to be charged with a crime.]

Well it depends on the place where this story is going to take place, if it is Japan, than maybe you want to do a little bit of research about "morally controversial issues in Japan", then create some sort of a scandal surrounding the girlfriend's family.
A scandal which is hunting the family generation after generation. It might be high treason, collaboration with the enemy during WWII (i.e. involvement in the bombardment of Hiroshima and Nagazaki) ... etc.
Of course it is not the younger generations' fault nor the girlfriend's fault if someone from the older generations did an unpardonable mistake but the modeling agency would fear that if the news were to leak out to the press, then it will end the young model's carrier.
If you want you can incorporate both historical facts and elements from previous work into your plot. I don't know if you've ever watched the "Grave of the Fireflies" anime movie (it is about a brother and his younger sister who try to survive alone in Kobe during the final months of WWII).
Never mind that it has been described as an anti-war movie but I know that Kobe is cherished by Japanese (so if you drop the name in, it should have a symbolic value). You could say that the girlfriend's family made fortune during that time from the sufferance of orphaned children, was known as such and condemned at the time by the press.
The girlfriend has been aware of that unsavory heritage, she condemns her great grandparents's greed and inhumanity but still she wants to have a normal life and not be punished for mistakes she didn't do. When she meets this young model, her problem becomes his also and they try to salvage their love amidst hostility and incomprehension from the others (of course, this might be too much drama but we're just brainstorming) (=・ω・=)
Do you want the female lead to have a scarred personality, or just be affected by bad circumstances? I the former, there's a bunch of other possibilities that I think haven't been mentioned: Perhaps she was kidnapped as a child (Fritzl-style), perhaps she accidentally caused the death of her family (fire, car accident etc). This scenario could involve a vengeful or remorseful sibling.
She might also be from a religious cult. With the right spin this could turn out real bad in the media. And it would be difficult to deny if she, or her family, had indeed been part of that group
@MOI? Urban Dictionary translates Pollito into 'Chickling'. How cute :)
Ps. Love this plot-sparring. Let's do it again :)
an ex-convict maybe
have you ever watched Ugly Alert?
It's my all time favorite k drama. The background behind the ex-convict got me really emotional and the people surrounding the couple had a hard time accepting their relationship. I totally recommend you watch it for inspiration but it is a very long drama.
Well Alys's idea seems plausible and workable. Causing the death of her parents (it's simple but effective and traumatizing at the same time).
Though you have good ideas by now, I would like to add a couple more from Japan's modern history.
1) For instance, I read once about ABE Sada, a prostitute who killed and mutilated her own lover. The cause of murder was her possessive love of him. The story was sensational and it was referenced many times in literature work, made into a movie, there was even a mangaka who dropped the name in one line as a joke (the MC said to his lover: What are you? ABE Sada?)
When I read about her story, I had one question in mind. How did things turn out for family members who are related to her? Surely, it is not easy to admit the kinship?
And giving the fact that ABE Sada disappeared after serving her time in jail, wouldn't it be interesting if she had an offspring somewhere? A daughter or a son who carries this heavy legacy? And what if the girlfriend you want to create was the grand-daughter of ABE Sada?
The name by itself would create sensation, awe and shock.

2) Other possible background related to controversial events in Japan's history.
Let's say that the girlfriend's grandfather was part of the “Tatenokai” (the Shield Society) group which was created by the author Yukio Mishima. Like Abe Sada, the name Mishima speaks for itself, though the two can't be compared. I am myself a fan of Mishima. Of course Mishima was a great writer but at the same time he had a political agenda as he wanted to restore the imperial rule. He in fact tried to stage a coup d'état in 1970 then performed the ritual suicide, seppuku. He was aided by three members of the Tatenokai society, a group which was involved seven years later in taking 12 hostages, hence the name of the society is controversial, so what if the girlfriend was related to that? She could be the grand-daughter of one of Mishima's men, his right hand or a close collaborator?
Izo Hashimoto sensei used the name Tatenokai – without actually naming it – to create the background of one of Shamo's characters, so using it isn't unfamiliar or out of place.
I think that more the background is heavy, the more it has implications related to historical, political and morally controversial events, then the more it will weigh on the MC's lives.

Of course any other background is possible, it all depends on how it is dramatized … and good luck (⌒▽⌒)
No I don't ... but other people do and they write about different aspects of Japanese society, history and culture. Most of the time, I would be reading something and one thing leads to another and information just piles up, notwithstanding that the work of prominent Japanese writers is most of the time translated into English like Mishima's work. This is a way to learn more about Japanese society, history, culture and politics. Looking into the history of particularly "impactful" movies related to Japanese society could lead also to knowing more about particular events (for instance Abe Sada story was made into a movie in the mid-seventies. Of course I wasn't born then but the movie is still referenced nowadays). Like I said, information just piles up.

A tie between Nike from Soredemo sekai wa ustukushii and Shirayuki from Akagami no Shirayukihime.
To be honest, I never liked any of the heroines. I did enjoy the mangas though. Say I Love You has the most amazing art ~ if only it was a yaoi. I liked Hot-Blooded Woman, but Ha Ji was an idiot.
I liked Crazy Girl Shin Bia and Bia wasn't too bad a character. She didn't annoy me.
Red River is an awesome one too, but Yuri ticks me off for some reason. I suspect it might be because she chose Kail instead of Ramses.
Let's see, what else...Heart no Kuni no Alice is a good one if you like hot guys (and who doesn't?), but it doesn't get interesting until the plot twist in the end. I actually didn't see it coming and it was pretty sad. Alice was too fickle for my liking though.

All i could remember is that the heroine was put inside a safety capsule or smtg (by her dad if i'm not mistaken) and went into hibernation when her world was in danger or smtg, and when she woke up the whole world is different but she has a caretaker or smtg and there's a kemonomimi-guy chara if I'm not mistaken. Thx in advance!
