So when I heard that even the ml, (mainly for whom I was going to give this story a try) that is Yohan was going to be an absolute ass, I looked for spoilers. No I didn’t read the novel, but I read certain paragraphs and certain spoilers. Novel way of writing was okay. I had hopes because the writing was alright but

Gosh I already really disliked the mc in terms of a main character. He had ONE ROLE: act like a side character. Goddamn he did NOT do it well. I was looking forward to more of his complex dynamics to being a side character but nor is he complex nor is he well written. A story should have a plethora of emotions if it doesn’t have that and sticks to one certain emotion, sorrow, call it a tragedy. This isn’t a tragedy and a ROMANCE. I could go on about how shitty this took for a turn. I didn’t have any hopes because I did absolutely see this coming. But each to their opinion; I just don’t see how people are hyping this up at all. This is not some literacy genius. My actual concern is; how are you finding the mc “relatable” or “good”. Fine if you like him as a character I WILL not judge; but PLEASE reflect on yourself if you find him “relatable” and understand what the problem is. I’m not going to shove in critical analysis and basic personality inside anyone but no he’s not relatable.

Now comes Yohan. Great character, great complexity, ruined it by making him JUNWOO 2.0 ARE YOU KIDDING ME.
This is a hot take please don’t judge me but I think Yohan is the worst character here, like junwoo is abusive mostly physically but Yohan will be doing it mentally and physically. Gosh, he made me hate him. The thing is, it’s romance. I don’t feel it at all. Is his belief in Christianity a way to divert himself from the fact that he’s a terrible human and he thinks he can find salvation going after god and not working on himself? This is your typical “dark romance”. I’m so tired of this. And then they make him the average “abused ml he’s just traumatised that’s why he’s acting like that waaaa”. Thing is, I did not read the novel, so I will not judge on that particular part, but I heard they pretty much do end up together, like I heard mc takes care of him AFTER ALL THAT HE HAD DONE??? MC NOOOOO GIRL STOP IT I THINK HE IS A MASOCHIST HE HAS TO BE??


I was expecting the main character to act like a side character but with all those “emotions and thoughts” he really is the damn main character of the story. Don’t know I mean it’s not the worst but this is your typical “dark romance bl” and YOU DO YOU but the only thing is no it’s not a great literacy find and PLEASE don’t find mc relatable.I do understand how people would like the novel more, I liked reading the novel but it really doesn’t change my opinions on the characters because well they are actually what they are, it’s just more skilfully shown than what the Manhwa is doing.

I remember I got a lot of hate for calling mc a bad character, and in the comments I find someone who read the novel say the same thing, that he is “two faced”
They also said it’s a toxic story with toxic characters

Because I knew right away from the mc’s thought bubbles that he wasn’t a “complex” character but a mean one WHETHER OR NOT HE DID CONTRIBUTE OR DID TAKE ACTIONS
Actions do not ONLY contribute to a character when clearly the character says he doesn’t want to yet he FEELS like to

But I didn’t mind because this is the first time I’m seeing a mc like this
I saw potential in Yohan but that commenter made me lose hope

I hope this story turns out to be good because it HAS IMMACULATE POTENTIAL
And I hope the characters are portrayed better and hope they aren’t toxic

I would’ve loved if this was from yohan’s pov but I feel like it’s even better now that we don’t get his thoughts
I love how he handles the mc, he KNOWS mc has a crush on that asshat. It’s so evident he knows, and he goes out of his way to protect him under certain situations. BUT AT THE SAME TIME he’s not acting all head over heels for him and pulling moves clearly bringing about a boundary between the two. I love how he lets mc unbothered having a crush on that asshat and also lets him slowly come towards him too. He should know that mc is only using Yohan as a replacement but he seems fine w it. Althooo I feel Yohan is NOT also with the best intentions, hopefully he slaps some sense into the mc. But why did he say those last two words, I wonder if it was purposefully with two meanings, maybe he wanted to say that because he wanted mc to know his thought on the abuse is disgusting, or maybe he wanted to clarify something from his reaction to that sentence.


Or worst of all, he’s a straight guy.
