To start, I like the concept of the dynamic a lot. Subby recluse top x Forward popular bottom. Very fun and unique premise.
However, although the smut is good, it's not good enough to carry the series. There's a lot of manhwa that suffer from gooning as a replacement for writing- I'm just going to make a stink about this one in particular bc I do really like the dynamic in theory which makes this particularly disappointing.
Within the first 20 chapters it felt like the author was writing, erasing, and rewriting the MC's attitudes towards one another. I thought initially "Oh- The tension in their relationship comes from the fact they are both bad communicators"
That can work, but only if due work is done in establishing the characters' flaws so there's a sense of internal logic to their actions.
I like flawed characters. I like characters who act irrationally when there has been a precedent set for their actions. Here the precedents keep getting switched out.
Why are you guys jealous of each other? We know you like each other. YOU know you like each other. Why is any of this a problem?
Oh now there's some supernatural reincarnation stuff going on. Oh there's this girl. Oh there's this app. Idk it's like so many ideas that keep getting interrupted by porn like can you guys maybe sit down and have a normal conversation so it feels like i actually know what the characters' deals are and if it's reasonable for them to be acting like this? As things are its just not compelling.
This sort of writing is acceptable for a one shot or single volume manga, but it seems like this is going to be a solid 50-chater series which bodes poorly since we are only 20 chapters in and I already dgaf.
TLDR; If you introduce ideas they need to be expounded upon so there can be satisfying payoff. Do not give me payoff (gay sex) before giving me developed characters.

I love the almost bara inspired style with the writing having the tender romantic nature of BL… makes me love being gay TT (people often assume bara is just “buff men” when in reality bara artists draw all body types but there’s just a lot more focus on masculine physicality; as in directly referenced from naked men with muscles.
