I don't think Akane likes it, I think he thinks he deserves it after "killing" his brother. He's trying to fix what he sees as his fault by carrying on the life his brother would have had even tho it hurts him to see the man he loves wish he was someone else

I'm not really mad at the ending, at all. Probably because I already expected this ending from the start, and continued reading it regardless. I honestly would have been surprised if it HAD ended any other way, and frankly disappointed if he ended up with Hanabusa-senpai, because it would have been too clean an ending for such a tragic story. Suicide is obviously not something to take lightly, if you look at the research, a large percent of suicide survivors regretted it at the very last minute. I wouldn't wish suicide for any person, fictional or otherwise. So yes, he ended up with his abuser, and yeah it's messed up. But who’s to say things can’t get better for him/them? Sure, things could also get worse. But if you’re alive there’s always a chance that things can get better, but if you’re dead, then you’ve got no chance at all. That’s what I think.
Not to mention, how do you think his dad would feel if Haruki had committed suicide successfully??
yeah , the ending isnt bad its just its obvious but not obvious how the older brother is feeling i just feel in limbo like what is he feeling for his stepbrother now? and yeah i was sketchy on the suicide but the discription of his feelings in the middle left me feeling like it should of happened ( was going to happen more like it ) but i think its cool he got help and talked to somebody

I mean, you asked how we would feel if Haruki committed suicide? I'm saying if he did, how would his dad feel, because the dad just lost his wife and unborn child (wife was pregnant) so losing Haruki as well would have been way too tragic for the dad. So I'm glad Haruki is alive. :)

While that is true, that wasn't what I meant by royally screwing up. What I was referring to is if he did something that would make her stop liking him. Him being "taken" just means that she is aware she shouldn't pursue or impose her feelings but that doesn't stop her from still liking him that way (in other words it confirms her dreams can only ever be dreams not reality but doesn't stop her from dreaming). She knows she shouldn't but it's hard to give up.
On top of that the more one hangs around the person they like the harder it can be to extricate themselves from the free fall of falling in love and move on. Meaning it is not simple for her to consider others as she would still be comparing them to the original guy (which is exactly what she just did) - and through the rose coloured glasses of love that gives them little hope in beating the original interest.
So while the blocker of him being "taken" allows the new guy a foot in the door, even if he gave a top class pursuit of her heart, it would still take a lot of drama before she can accept his feelings and try to return them. Unless, as I said before, the original guy royally screws up, making her love of him disappear for a bit. In which case, since she is free from the effects of love, she would consider the new guy. (And unfortunately, the new guy wasn't around at the time the "taken" issue shook her feelings toward the original, i.e. she returned to her state of liking the original before he could come into the pic).
