I hate a lot, but what I hate most is that it portrays BD/SM relationships as inherently wrong. He's afraid of falling back into old patters? If you get off on pain, that's not a bad thing. Everyone in this was just doing it wrong. One guy was an abuser full stop, one was processing his own issues by pushing someone who with no experience into a sexual kink that wasn't his, and finally you have the guy who is insecure and full anger and allows himself to be pushed and pulled until he lashes out. They all suck and none of them actually know anything about a real BD/SM relationship. As a person in the lifestyle it pisses me off to see these things. Going to go read My Sadistic Master now to read a more accurate portrayal of the culture.
This novel gets super dark. Not just the obsessive ML in the novel, but what happened in the real world too. When it was revealed why the MC is not well, though that's not something in the novel, it was genuinely upsetting. I couldn't stop thinking about it, I talked to people about it because I had to share since it was really bothering me so much. It's just about the worse thing I've ever read in a novel. I'm sure that some people won't agree with how bad it is to me. But it legit caused me to have an existential crisis.
We don't really get to know the girls at the safe house and we don't get to see ML crawl and beg. MC forgives him way to fast, they really rushed it at the end. They make it look like MC isn't upset at all with ML for bringing him back. When he gets him memories back MC is harsh way more harsh with ML in the novel and ML has to work to get him back.
I was like what the hell? This is the end? Half of the novel is still left! Then I saw the side story notice at the end. I'm glad they aren't just going to stop.
The way that the actor and the other swimmer look like the MC, but not to the point where you would confuse the them with each other is amazing. Enough similarity that you can total see if, but enough difference that MC can shrug it off. The back story of why the actor looks even more like MC then the swimmer is kind of... eww though
Peter is mentally ill, likely from his illness enforced isolation. In the novel it seems much more clear that he also has something serious going on. It amazes me that everyone is all like 'he's so cute and innocent' He was straight up planning a murder. He stalked Wooyeon for nearly a year before finding a way to get close to him with the intention of killing him. He pivoted to ruining his life instead, but still...
It still has the placeholder and the chapter is missing. It goes from Seowon calling out Aiden for Masturbating to him getting sick the next morning. You have to go back to the old uploads if you want to read that chapter
Such accurate depictions of what a real Dom should be like. Brutal during play, but the after care is so good. The way he reminds him that he can use the safe word, even offering to change it if it's too hard to say. This is what a real Dom is like, they don't get off on abuse but on giving pain to those who really like it and want it. If the Sub isn't happy then the sex is no good. Your sub should be running up to you and excited to see you. Your sub should not be scared of you all the time or flinch when you reach for them outside of play. So nice to see Doming done right in one of these for a change and a sub who is actually into it. I have a feeling that that stupid Sunbae is not going to understand what a real BDSM dynamic should be and will try to do something to the MC without consent and actually hurt him.
It ends so abruptly and leaves so many loose strings. Why dream devil do what he do? The guy spreading rumors just... stops? What happens to the love rival? Are they out, since they hugged and held hands publicly or not? Did they move in together? Why did MC have to wait to come to MLs house? So frustrating.
I always save this for last when I get a bunch coming in at once. I save it for last cause no matter how bad it gets for some of the characters in the other things I read, this little family and little village heals my soul.
Sooner or later MC is going to find out the ML is the god he hates and will find out about the memory erasure. He's going to be so upset, I don't know how they are going to get over that. Going to read t he novel so I can find out can't want any longer.
OMG! I can feel my heart swell at this thing. It's so wholesome and adorable. I hope the author doesn't do anything foolish like bring the mom back or another love interest or something like that. They are too perfect and precious.
I am only reading here and have no idea where the story is really going, but here's what I think will happen.
1. ML will turn out to be possessed/cursed (a way for the writer to justify what he has done; after all, it wasn't him; It was the possession/curse making him do those bad things)
2. the ML's men didn't kill MC's mom
3. Mr. Second ML, who looks like a green flag in comparison to the other dudes in this story but who is still problematic, is the one who killed the mom. (and it's likely he or his mom caused the ML to be the way he is)
4. While it's implied that ML's mom did something to him, it will turn out that she was trying to protect him from whatever was done to him. (after all, if she was the one making him messed up, why would she get him art therapy)
5. At some point, ML will start being kind to MC. His behavior will also change toward everyone as his 'real' self starts to shine because of his love for MC.
6. As MC finds these things out, he will gradually fall in love with ML
7. Not being accepted by the tribe and named or not being pure blood will prevent the toxin from working, so the ML won't die.
I think the end game is for MC and ML to be together and have a happy ending.
