Whenever I think about the plot for more than two seconds it annoys me. Why would you go undercover with a person you’ve met before ?? Of course he recognized the MC. At least the ML called him out right away, it would have been insufferable if the author dragged it out for several chapters
And even though the MC is supposed to be a spy (?), he feels too naive and incompetent for it to be believable. If author wanted to make him weak and clueless, just make him a regular civilian not a spy
