ok so basically, the emperor and navier were childhood friends and they did something dumb which he dragged her into, resulting in him believing she had become infertile. Feeling guilty, he had decided to marry her and make her the empress, but knowing that there is no heir, he brought in the trashta we all know and hate to create an heir. This works by making her an official concubine, and divorcing Navier and making trastha the empress who then gives birth to an heir. He had then planned to divorce trashta and then reinstate Navier as the rightful empress and have the child be the heir

Wait a minute, isn't it Navier and Soviet already engaged since they were young, and they been educated since they were kids to prepare them to become Emperor and Empress.
