The only happy ending I could've imagined was, the murderer gets caught and rots in jail, suffering knowing he'll never see or have a relationship with the black hair dude.
Black hair dude to be promoted or atleast given the appreciation he deserves for going through all the previous cases and solving this one. Moving on with his life and maybe finding something or someone he can love or be content with in the future.
