Honestly it had a really good concept and some questionable things did take place, but as you read on you start to understand why it was included for understanding the plots overarching theme and point. The only reason I gave it 3 stars was because of the ending. I did not enjoy how they wrapped up the whole story, and it honestly feels like a bit of lost potential. And along with that, this whole storyline revolves so much of a man’s pov on societal issues, over the course of the read you start to realize that the mc really IS the issue like.. i really stopped following with the storyline all the way at the end when he started making love to HIMSELF on a woman’s body.. was really weird but again as I mentioned, I was expecting there to be an understandable explanation as to why this took place like when he would eat his s*men, he did so to make sure he was still alive.. but alas I was never given an explanation for that weirdass scene before the story ended. Other than that, the ending was so sad and reminded me a lot of goodnight punpun the way he was so close to achieving salvation and happiness, yet it slips away from his fingers at the last moment.. this story is a sad but deep manga that says a lot about the world we live in. But even then, a lot of the actions the mc would do for other, were intrinsically selfish due to him preforming them in order to get closer to himself, not to the person he’s connecting with. It’s for that reason too I think this story could have been better, as nanako spent so much of herself loving him and he chose to not have it in him to love him back the way she did to him. It was such a sad ending, but truly understandable. He spiraled into madness, fixing others trauma at the expense of his own sanity. Another reason it lost a star for me was also because at some point he acted more like a villain than a protagonist with empathy. (SPOILER) When he was drilling that hole into nanakos head she looked so scared yet he continued, not even for her, but for him to understand himself more. People can say this manga confused them, but i wouldn’t say it’s entirely hard to understand, as it is more important to note that the mc as a man, with certain looks, and social status affects how he views the world. And you will only understand his point of view if you can abandon your own, and another reason why it lost a star for me; forget about the women’s perspective in some of the situations he is in. Regardless of that, I think that the storyline in this manga is exceptionally good and the beginning to middle parts of the plot are my favorite. It teaches us how materialistic people can be and once they surround themselves with people who have the same values, they inevitably begin to lose who they are in the process.(● ̄(エ) ̄●)
