I really wish authors would stop using the r*pe trope. There's something deeply messy about adding a r*pe scene to a character's past to give the character depth. And I feel like it's been happening way too many times and quite often unnecessarily. Especially with child abuse. There's something very wrong with using r*pe to make your work popular. It's not a mechanism to cash on. I don't know how to explain it but I really don't understand how someone could use something so serious just so... casually. Just sitting and deciding what to use to make the main characters oast tragic and it's- dad who drinks, mom who left and a pinch of r*pe and bullying to garnish. Sometimes its necessary, sometimes it's just unnecessarily added to make main character the main character. I just really really hope that this would stop and people would call out authors like this because I know for a fact that someone who has actually been r*ped doesn't feel like they're a main character in a story at all. It's a painful experience, too painful to be used for going viral or to build a tragic past.
