It's realistic and buttersweet and the fleeting moments they were able to share feels that much more precious. I love angst but I really wouldn't consider this angsty because they both accepted it and move on while keeping the memories to themselves. It's really beautiful, like those stories of first loves.
This manga would've benefited from ending earlier...maybe after the back tattoo was finished at the latest. The random artist background and New York opportunity just feels unnecessary and draggy especially with how underdeveloped the characters and how it adds nothing to the story. Should've kept it short and just focus on the intensity of tattoos, lust, passion and leave it at that.
The fact that the rapist kept showing up was annoying afffff. Were we meant to want mari to end up with him? Them having sex again and trying to make us like him with the cute dog is off putting. If it was literally anyone other than the rapist I would've rooted for Mari to end up with them. Makes me question if the author is into the rape trope in yaoi, which would be disappointing.
Otherwise, I think I don't mind that the manga went nowhere and nothing got resolved. It's very slice of life.
