Friendly advice; read comics with generally NO smut as tag.
Smut tag essentially means the comic is mostly, if not ONLY, focussed on sex. Essentially like porn in comic form. :P
Which 99% of the time means that there is no plot, shitty plot or just decent plot. VERY rarely will you find authors who focus on story but throw smut in as a cherry on top.
Yaoi as tag means there is sex, even smutty sex, but that the focus is on a story, romance or whathaveyou (if other tags are given especially so). Which means the writing is usually much better. (Especially those that do have more to focus on than JUST romance.)

This is precisely why I recommend shounen-ai and basic yaoi to newcomers and tell them to stay away from smut tagged works. The sex scenes overweight and the plot always suffers if it's there. Even if the plot is decent, it could always be greater if smut wasn't prioritized. XD
Not saying smut comics cannot be great, but usually it's essentially porn in comic form. And porn does not require good writing, which the genre is showing in 99% of the cases, really. Tho that 1% does keep me reading all the time. ٩(๑❛ᴗ❛๑)۶
