I found this so hard to take seriously for the first 30 chapters ngl because everyone was soool dramatic. I can hear words I read in my head (as I expect everyone can?) and reading those words were just comedic. Like bro really got divorced over a cake? His wife was frustrated by the fact he couldn’t taste?? Now, I know his lack of taste is mostly an allegory for his inability to feel and accurately express emotion. But they really only wrote to this after the 30 chapters. Before that it was all about his lack of taste. And when he was talking about the fact he can’t taste and he said “IM ALREADY BROKEN!” I was trying not to laugh so hard because that is just funny. My mum is actually taste blind. She has a significantly impacted sense of smell and taste meaning she can’t smell or taste most things unless they are really strong. Still….most people don’t even notice. And she doesn’t really give af. Interestingly she makes great food. It’s probs because even if you can’t taste you can still feel the sensations of salt and spice and sweet on your tongue.

Why do they always make these kinda stories into porn? Is sufferance and hardship a turn on? OMG I cannot agree more. The author is super questionable with its harsh yet realistic setting, but with its overly sexualized scenes(and art style) kind of romanticing r@pe in a way. It's definitely the way the author draws it and portrays it.
It was actually still quite disturbing despite the "oversexualized" scenes--probably because of the horrifying atmosphere that the story sets itself in, its often moody and dark. It seriously does not feel like porn to me--its drawn in a deliberately gross way and it kind of feels like a mockery of most hentais out there that DO romanticize sexual assault. Though, I can't really guarantee that that is what the author wants to portray. Just my perspective tho!

Its just hard to see how the story--taking a theme about violence against women--was told in the perspective of a male character and I highly doubt the author is a woman. I do wish artists who had the talent to create gruesome atmospheres portrayed sexual assault as what it is; horrifying and dehumanizing without the unnecessary porny shit that sells well to a bunch of sickos. And as an artist myself, the artist of this story can draw many different types and styles of men clearly.
