the story was UTTER GARBAGE. it’s not even because of the violence, rapes, kidnapping, and other crazy shit. but the progression, build up, and romance was fucking horrible?? a mafia story can have toxicity!!! we ALL expected it, but there was zero effort to introduce caesar as a well thought out, twisted person. everything about the story was shallow from their characterization to how and why they even fell in love! the lead up to any of caesars actions was non-existent, and we never got to look into his background or hear his own thoughts. so when he does batshit crazy things and people defend it by saying “he’s extremely traumatized” “he’s mafia do you expect vanilla” THE ANSWER IS NO! we expected his introduction to be well rounded, so we can understand (not excuse) the things he’s done. but it never happened and the basis of their magnetic connection doesn’t even make sense or seem that deep
it’s really overhyped since the art is amazing and their consensual sex scenes. i think we can all agree, we fell in love with side of leewon who is eager to have sex and make his lover feel good- to explain why we stuck around before all this. so it’s sadder watching him be forced into a rotten relationship , and excuses any/all that white devils actions. i all for character regression, shown in recent ch, but it was done in such a lazy awfully told way. they were so forced and both of them are bad imitations of what they’re labeled as

I get you. Kinda one of the reasons I've stopped reading BL manhwas and mangas. A lot of the stories are shitty nowadays. Maybe if the rape/abuse makes sense in the story, like if it's psychological, etc., sure I can get by it. But a lot of them just have rape as something that normally happens b/w the couple and the bottom just lets it go. It's not good story and it's not right. Rape/non consensual sex isn't right. But yeah, as someone above has pointed out, it's a preference by a lot of people. These days I read more mlm in fics instead. They're more nuanced.
