Ilay is definitely showing character development, it’s a slow progression but from when Ilay first begins to show interest in Tay to now he has changed a lot. Old Ilay would’ve killed Tay by now and just been done with it but current Ilay can’t bring himself to do it- a psychotic killer can’t kill somebody who antagonizes him as much as Tay does!? That really shows how the depth of his emotions has evolved and now Ilay has to learn how to swim (though rn he is mostly just sinking in them it seems). It’ll take some time and he’s bound to make mistakes (don’t get me wrong I cried when Tay cried) but he’s coming from having basically no emotions whatsoever to accidentally falling in love. He definitely is a BAD guy- but I really like his character so far because he is more than just bad.
Mannnnn I don’t want him to be a red flag too It doesn’t even make much sense for him- if anything, shouldn’t he NOT want to be like the psycho stalkers he’s had in the past??? Not to mention how deeply uninterested Andrew was with Luke and literally everyone else in the beginning, now he’s gonna go to the very opposite end of the spectrum??? ┗( T﹏T )┛ just let him be sweet and in love, why does every ML have to be a psycho red flag these days? I am tired.
I think this is just gonna be a lesson on how trauma and childhood neglect breeds bad attachment styles. I honestly think they’re gonna be fine. The author doesn’t romanticize Andrew being obsessive but rather acknowledges that it’s something that is off. If anything, I think this would just lead to great character development moments.
