HOLY MOTHER OF CHRIST that took me by surprise! Her mother feeding herself to her is a level of grotesque I wasn't expecting (it is welcomed, though).

I actually really enjoy this backstory. It doesn't feel out of place and shoes the massive psychological effect the break had on ordinary people as well as how Reaper ended up as she did. It's well thought out and fun to read.

Wait, so is all of this happening in Maruyama's coma dream? Like he's been in a coma and all of what we're seeing is what he's dreamed up?
Or is it something supernatural that's related to him being in a family of monks and seeing/communicating with ghosts?
