I came back and read this again after so many years, and sadly I still find the ending rushed and anti-climatic. Naozumi was built up as this huge antagonist, but his motivations were inconsistent and his death was very pathetic. Also I don't understand why Miyako was focused on a lot when he really didn't do much and also had a weak death. It also feels like that they were building Akira to have a important impact on the story, but that also had a disapointing conclusion. It kinda feels like the creator had zero idea for a proper conclusion and went with " and then everyone dies " ending.
