things u cannot stand in BL
When they just meet for the first time and the next day they are a couple. There’s a lot of rushed things in some BL, but I can’t stand when it’s too slow either.
Heres a list of some of my BL pet peeves:
- Rape (Esp. if it's romanticized and dismissed early on in the story)
- Really feminine bottoms
- Really large age gaps (gosh I hate dropping books after gushing over it for like a good 2 minutes before reading the Q&A section and seeing the 8 year age gap between the pairings. Yuck!)
- Immediate sex (quite biased since I prefer shounen ai more than smut so...)
- Annoying female characters that have 0 personality traits other than to be annoying
- Homophobia (unless written well)
- Weird body anatomy
I probably would add more since I know I'm incredibly picky nowadays when it comes to BL but these are some red flags that make me immediately drop a BL when seen :P

Yaoi lost its spark for me but not for the same reason as you. I just found something wayyy better and my standards are super high which is something yaoi can’t get up too.
That's normal. Once you know how anal feels like, how sex in general feels like, when you see the scenes in yaoi, they don't hit the same cause you now know it's not as unfamiliar or exciting as it'd portrayed. A kiss or a make out session all of a sudden are nothing but just something that happens. For me, only super hot art, angst, and unusual places/positions/bdsm can somewhat ignite the spark. I'm a dom in my relationship (only during sex) so it's extra fun to read
