I’m just gonna say it: Hotaka should’ve ended up with Chika. Not as in “Hotaka given an ultimatum should’ve chosen Chika” but as in “the author should’ve been more coherent with the flow of the story and the way she plotted the characters”. Like, Hotaka being annoyingly indecisive and Chika being forceful made them a really good pairing (although one might argue it’s not optimal in a real relationship). But boy no, the author just freaking throws Masato in and oh look Hotaka seems to feel better (not even love him more) than with Chika tf. And can we talk about how Masato only confesses when things were working out for him?? Compared to him, his ex-wife was way better and could at least own up to her feelings. Tbh, the manga was alright right until Masato did his bitch move right in front of Chika. I think rather than me liking Chika, it’s more about me hating Masato lol. In conclusion, i would rate this a 0 outta 10 for doing my boy Chika wrong like this.
Huh?? What are you talking about? Masato wasn't just randomly thrown in the story to fuck shits up, and the whole story was actually totally coherent... Since chapter 1 it shows Masato being troubled and Hotaka totally indifferent towards Chika. And China himself is not that likeable, he's forceful and indecisive, yet hypocrite in his attitude (putting a carefree front when he's actually very manipulative), I liked him as a character in THIS story because he was a big part of the plot but I usually don't appreciate these kind of characters.
Hotaka is very fickle and Masato plain, even boring; so it made Chika interesting.
However, it was a good manga. Far from the best but a good one.

Well.. at least, chika has courage to confess his feeling.. he forced his feeling towards hotaka because he knows that hotaka love masato (that already married).. and hotaka don't totally against it... it's not only chika's fault.. i personally don't quite like chika because of his jealousy.. but instead of masato that already married and has a kid too..
Do you imagine how hotaka's feeling when masato and his gf hooked up, his gf pregnant, has a child and married?
Even if i don't like chika.. it's better that masato that look innocent outside but coward and selfish inside...
She wasn't his girlfriend. They had a casual relationship but when she become pregnant while she wanted to have the child herself Masato decide to stand by her. Probably they weren't even a couple while married. And of course Hotaka would not persue a relationship with a married man. But actually Hotaka was not fully aware of the fact that he loved Masato
I once had someone who force his feeling towards me when i'm totally not into him. I felt suffocated when he's forcing me do things that i dont wanna do with him. So, i'm quite understand why Hotaka can't accept Chika at the end of the day. Since Hotaka is such a pushover (due to his past experiences) he went along with whatever Chika wants to.
As for Masato, he didn't push his feeling towards Masato but he decided to go all the way if Hotaka started falling love with him. But as the title (we cannot have our own way) they had sex despite Hotaka not yet confessed his feeling (well actually author showing subtly that Hotaka has fallen for Masato) when Hotaka was a bit drunk.
I mean, we do know that Eli is a reincarnation but Sam might just be immortal seeing how he remembers everything
