I think it’s cute.
there are phrases in chinese/japanese/korean that actively mean "my wife" which seem strange when translated to english haha. you can see this with siblings calling each other "imouto" "onii-chan" or "onee-san", these phrases tend to not translate well into english which is why it may seem awkward/clunky ^^
