My first cakeverse read. Came in expecting nothing, but this was a solid read. The psychological elements were really good, & the MC was an absolute gem, fighting his desires the entire time. I would like to see how this trope is executed in another story
In a way I could see myself liking this more than omegaverse. While there are a ton of good omegaverse stories out there, there are a lot of SA plots that get overlooked or brushed over which really frustrates me
I've also read subverse too--which I like as well (at least the lighter, not BDSM-heavy ones) for the same reasons

Brooo that last line sent me lollll
But on a serious note, I really wish she'd tell the Marquis about Yvonne. He knows all the background magic stuff going on & he'd be a great ally....or worst enemy if Yvonne was able to mind control him shm

Exactly. Make it make some sense please. She tries so hard all along only to give up at the first sign of trouble. I would understand if she didn't know about the enemies brain washing technique, but she does. Yet, she still continues to act like she doesn't, wtf? She could do so much more and what does she do? Acts like yvonne isn't her problem and then goes around blaming the other characters. Like does she even want to leave anymore? Even goes as far as to ask if Yvonne is okay when they both its an act. Geez..

But until now, she believed that there was no mutual trust between them. She thought the marquis had feelings for Yvonne, and had the antidote on hand for her, and suspected P of poising her.
Plus, who could she tell ? Even eklis, someone she thought could get her out of the game, who she trusted so much, fell under Y’s spell. Of course she finds it hard to trust someone again.
People in the mansion are vulnerable to Y, and she has no real friends outside.
The only one with potential is the crown prince, but again, she thinks he doesn’t fully like her due to the last time she checked the percentage, and might talk under Y’s spell.
Right now, only one she believes she can trust and help her is herself.

Didn't we know this was toxic from the get go? I don't understand people complaining about that
Honestly, the FL is much more aware & stronger than most. I enjoy a good toxic plot, even more so w a mix of gender-bender thrown in. Really makes this story stand out compared to others I've read
Also super happy that her brother is happily married with a kid. All the work for the FL put in for him really panned out

While I did enjoy the story & its overall progression, the ML fell short for me. The end was so violent, & the whole justification that the other alphas wouldn't stop him bc they didn't want to be supressed feeds into the whole issue that alphas are above the law (remember that alpha attorney that was drunk & in rut?). There was so much to be explored & fixed there, but instead the ML just used it to his advantage & deeper societal issues are perpetuated.
Another comment--I honestly liked the red head character. Good design, clever (albeit petty & obv the bad guy), but him dying at the end was too much. I felt like we needed to get into a deeper dive into his character, or I could've seen a great spin-off story potential with him becoming a better person.
Idk, ig I'm a bit biased bc I'm a sucker for the small eyed characters & was a bit annoyed all the "good" guys had big doe eyes
Am I missing anything from Pearl Boy about these 2? This story looked promising
I dropped Pearl Boy & refused to pick it back up bc of the group SA & the visuals in the first few chapters
I would probably advise you to drop this one too then bc apparently the pretty boy drugs sexy big guy and sexually assaults him by forcing the big guy to give him head
oh my
