i think this manhwa portrays its themes very well to be honest. you're not supposed to look at this like an actual "BL", but as a horror story instead.
As an SA survivor, the themes are deeply troubling and i understand all of the backlash it's getting, but the reactions of the MC to his constant abuse and rape are very real (and hits insanely close to home). i think this is one of the few stories i have read that made me cry just because of how scarily accurate the emotions, thoughts, and actions are portrayed.
Not to say that Non Zero Sum is a "peak" manhwa by any stretch of the word, but the backlash for this being "too gruesome" or "there's no plot, just SA" is just... tasteless. The plot IS how the MC manages to survive his constant abuse, and to highlight the VERY REAL responses to intense trauma. it's not supposed to be a happy manhwa with a happy ending, nor does this manhwa "excuse" any of their themes.
all this to say, I haven't read the novel, I don't know how it ends. ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭. but what we have so far is really good at its job!!

this story was beautiful. I wish i didnt put it off for as long as i had. every turn had me on the edge of my seat and i was like. i had a horrible feeling the ending would be gut-wrenchingly tragic and i was proved wrong but ugh. i couldnt help but imagine what this story could have been if it was left to the og ending!! either way i was so fucking. dumbstruck. i love
hi gang!! i have a very roughly translated version of the novel,,,, where should i upload? i want to publish it to a site that's more accessible than google docs
Paste bin
I don't wanna be *that* guy but I'm wondering how rough of a translation it is... if it's machine translated it's probably going to confuse people even more. If you just put it through papago or google translate it totally fudges all the pronouns and creates some sentences that don't even make sense.
Let’s not do that. They tried their best and some of us would like to read it.
hi!! i changed all of the pronouns by hand when machine translation fucked it up. sure, some of the punctuation is strange and i tried my best to fix that in a way that would make sense to english readers, but other than that i made sure to check honorifics, pronouns, as well as any other words that make the story sound seemingly ........ formal (i.e. "buttocks" is now "ass" or "butt"). mistakes are bound to happen as i am only one person who worked on a 628 page document, but i hope it's readable at the very least. ^^ here's the doc link for the time being if you wanna check it out!! https://docs.google.com/document/d/1auY53b_dp11nXtO2UtoNOeaWx7RpS6rV6KG6Il2zBJM/edit (⌒▽⌒)
Sorry but some of the people here are bad at reading! I'm absolutely not hating on OP for wanting to make the novel more accessible, but if they're posting a poorly-translated, outdated version of the novel it could easily confuse people even further and then we have to go through that fucking "omg there's bestiality" song and dance we go through every other week. I'm not even saying they shouldn't post a translation! This is mangago. Everyone loves free shit. But not everyone can get through the incomprehensible shit like "Park Joo Yeon thrusted her erect stiffened penis into Kwon Jiwook's hole and said "You are chewing on my cum"." you get with MTL.
I'll check it out later since I've already read the novel, but I appreciate your understanding and work to make the story more...readable than when google translate spit it out. If you haven't disclosed that it's MTL with some readability fixes added I suggest you do so simply in order to avoid people being like "UM but mangago user Vani said this thing happened exactly this way in the novel and it didn't happen in the manhwa".
of course!! I disclosed that in the disclaimer section when you first open the file.
