Well, you see, Ruka and him are supposed to be a couple because of Chizuru, Kazuya wanted to break up (and straight up not even date her at all) but Chizuru "admires" Ruka's straightforward feelings and insisted he should date her, If I remember correctly, before all this date thing happened Chizuru is shown asking about Ruka to Kazuya, meaning she knows they are still "dating"
