In the last chapter of the main story, they didn't kiss. Juyeon made the move and kissed Hangeyol on the cheek but they remained friends for 3-4 years. Now they're in college and their feelings have matured. They live together because Hangeyol needed a place to stay and Juyeon had room. It seems like there's only 1 bed upstairs and they probably agreed to have Juyeon sleep on the bed and Hangyeol sleep on the floor (because apparently they're too awkward to sleep together). And yeah, that goes over to side story 3 where they finally confess, get together, and do things adults do. I personally don't think it's rushed but if that's not your cup of tea, then feel free to click out
Okay so I didn't read the entire thing but only read from chapter 35 and up but I'm starting to see some nuance in his character.
* Note: I'm not trying to defend him. I am ANALYZING him. If you have a different opinion, you are entitled to. Feel free to disagree or agree with me.
I get the popular consensus is that he's trash. And he is. However, in this chapter, I feel like there's a few notable points to mention. One, he's hungover and in a terribly bad mood. His manager just sent him over luxury gifts from other people, which he said, "I don't need all that expensive shit." This, coupled with his bad mood and lack of memory from the night before, shows that he's against the idea of luxury gifts. He already has all he needs and there's only one thing he focuses on, and that's success. He doesn't care about expensive gifts, let alone Kim Dan's gift. Note, he's particularly annoyed. If you see in the chapter, he recalls Kim Dan's days sleeping on the job, sneaking out, being all secretive and ultimately pushing all his buttons for something, he considers, not important and a waste of time. To him, what Kim Dan did was pushing it because to him, Kim Dan's job and his ability to help with the jinx mattered more than the gift. Now, I'm not saying that Kim Dan was wrong for getting him the gift because you know, that's what a person who's in love would do. What I'm saying is that from Jaekyung's perspective, Kim Dan was slacking on his job, and hence, Jaekyung said, "How can you even afford this when you're broke?" This showed his initial interest in the gift, but when Kim Dan said it was because of his side hustle, you can see Jaekyung's mood take a turn from annoyed because of his hangover to straight up angry, with the unifying topic being Kim Dan. He said, "Hey Kim Dan, who asked you to buy this for me?" which showed his initial point: He didn't need the gift. Going further on, Kim Dan further aggravates Jaekyung. Going back on chapter 39-40, notice how Jaekyung initially did not mind that Kim Dan literally confessed, treating it as if it was normal. He didn't get angry or mad. He just accepted it. But in this chapter, when Jaekyung asked Kim Dan about his motives, Kim Dan denies it, saying that it was because he wanted to thank Jaekyung. There are two sides here. Kim Dan denied it because of Jaekyung's demeanor. He felt that if he confessed, their relationship would be over. At the same time, it felt like Jaekyung wanted to hear it again, with Kim Dan being sober this time. To me, I felt like Jaekyung calmed down a bit when Kim Dan spoke out, trying to hear him out in his own way. However, with Kim Dan's response of gratitude, the thing he least wanted to hear, it went full circle. He lost it and drew the line.
And so that's just my in-depth analysis and personal opinion on the matter. Everyone says there's no progress, but it doesn't have to necessarily be considered green flag or red flag. Authors don't just write things to piss the audience off, they write every scene with a purpose. If not, then there's no point in drawing every single panel in the first place without thinking why you're drawing it. Chapter 44 was somewhat of a progress, because it showed Jaekyung's vulnerable side, but went full circle to how Jaekyung actually is. Being an toxic guy through and through, you can't just wish for him to be a green flag immediately. It would cause plot holes and make this manhwa a third-rate one. Note: BJ Alex's main story was 90 chapters. We have a long way to go.
I mean I get that people call Jaekyung a red flag because he is but... did some people just ship Kim dan with Jumin..? I mean come on. Look-wise, status-wise, and career-wise he's the shadiest guy. He's worse than jaekyung by a tenfold and some of yall are shipping them? I want the best for Kim Dan too but... still. Jumin? That's like saying you hate eating a certain bread and then go on eating burnt bannana bread instead...
