does MC suffer from ASPD (antisocial personality disorder) or sociopathy? Like clearly you can tell from his mannerisms (aggression in his tone and violent tendencies) that this guy is not fit into society. But I can't quite tell if this links him to the mental disorder. MC is also characterized as a very impulsive person (reason why he approached ML in chapter one was because he was pretty) and pays no regard to the feelings of people around him. I can't say that he uses charm to get his way, though that could be possible because it said in the novel how mc slept around with women when he defied and ignored ML for a month. A main struggle for people who suffer from ASPD is that they have a hard time obeying the law due to their impulsiveness and behavior, which leads to bad habits (MC's drinking habits) and law breaking (MC sexually assaulting ML in middle school). People with ASPD can be identified through their lack of emphaty and remorse they have for their actions, which I see as 50/50 for the MC. MC in middle school, having assaulted ML, felt to guilt whatsoever for their actions, and even forgot about their crimes (could be amnesia idk). At the same time, felt immense guilt after finally being reminded of his past deeds. Yet again it is said how people with ASPD can feel emphaty time to time. ML, however, can be described as a psychopath, because he feels absolutely no remorse nor emphaty in his actions/abuse inflicted on MC (reflecting exactly how mc was back in middle school). Even when he apologizes to MC, there is no genuineness in his words, just apathetic words meant to comfort MC (which they don't). Ml's behavior leans more from trauma (no justice to being and his mom becoming mentally ill) compared to Mc (could be by genetics or neurological imbalance). ML only wishes to see MC suffer and break, which he was able to successfully do by degrading and stripping MC off his pride and dignity. It's to a point whereby MC's character changed. ASPD isn't curable, but the shift in character could be because of the fear and realization MC felt knowing that someone is actually able to dominate and control them however they please. That fact breaks him, leading to him being hopelessly dependant to that person with power (ML in this case).

Itās kind of hard to diagnose these characters because of how absurd they are, honestly, but I really like your reasoning. I think theyāre definitely a little mentally ill (understatement) but there is some information to be gleaned from reading the side stories and some of the authorās old tweets. Jiwookās behavior certainly comes off as sociopathic, especially given his actions in his youth. He was completely remorseless about what he did to Juyeon up until Lee Woojin bonked him on the head and he conveniently forgot about it all. The author mentioned in a tweet that Jiwook is separated from his parents and didnāt have a stable home environment; he lacked positive influences in his formative years. Sociopathy is considered genetic, and Jiwookās mother is apparently āa lot like himā. So who knows. I donāt think Juyeon is a psychopath. Most research indicates that psychopathy starts at birth. In the backstory chapters he reads as a very empathetic character, concerned with the feelings of others and feels a lot of guilt. (Especially when his mother is concerned) But I do think BPD or bipolar disorder (coupled with extreme PTSD) could be feasible readings for his character. He has a tendency to act recklessly and āfreak outā at random. Jiwook might, unfortunately, be his FP (favorite person) and his adolescent years all the way to adulthood are characterized by an all-encompassing obsession with him. He fluctuates between beating the shit out of Jiwook to let out steam and spoiling him like heās a pet. Heās always conflicted over enacting revenge against Jiwook versus making sure Jiwook will never leave him. Itās also worth mentioning that Juyeon has NEVER gotten therapy. He just rings up his rich family for money and never uses that money to Get Help.

I really like your explanation abt Juyeon. The main reason for his unstable behavior is because of environmental factors (abuse and ptsd). I think Juyeon can be described as a dark emphath in a way. He is able to understand and feel emphaty for others, but may not be because of true genuineness. After all Juyeon was a sweet boy before what mc did to him
