I disagree with the people saying the ending was rushed or incomplete. Maybe the writer felt uncomfortable or like an intruder writing romantic and sexual scenes between Taichi and Futaba or Taichi and Touma, that’s why the only thing we actually get are confession scenes. Also Masumi clearly chose her partner based on love not sex, she’s either implied as pansexual, bixesual or demisexual. Her struggle through the manga was accepting that, ending with a man doesn’t erase her queerness.

But Masumi is not written as a bisexual character. It’s not implied that she’s attracted to hearts in general, part of her character revolves around how she couldn’t fall in love with any of the men in her life, whether or not they were good people. She asked Taichi what it’s like to love the opposite sex and explicitly says she “falls in love with people she isn’t supposed to.” This is not a character that was written to be implied as bisexual. I love the ending. High school romance rarely lasts, so Kuze and Taichi breaking up was a realistic choice. Ilove that Taichi and Touma got together, not just cause I was hoping for that since ch. 5, but because I could easily see their relationship progressing past that of friends. But Masumi ending up with a man is a big miss. This was not a character written as bisexual.

It’s not really that simple. She never fell in “love” with the guys she dated but she did like them. When she broke up with her boyfriend she still likes him but she loved somone else. It’s different if she said dating guys made me uncomfortable or dating guys made me disgusted. She most definitely is bi but the focus was her not understanding herself because she came upon these feelings with liking a girl

Before asking Taichi what loving the opposite gender is like, she asks what the difference between love and friendship was. My takeaway from that scene was that she liked her boyfriend but it was platonic and, at the time, she was unable to differentiate platonic “like” from romantic “like” which is why she could never have a fulfilling relationship or grow to love any of her boyfriends. Nearly everything points to her being a lesbian, possibly struggling with comphet, not a bisexual. It’s cool that she’s happy, I just don’t like that she did a 180.
