I thought the same thing too but when i look to their last names their were different, well i was a bit disappointed because i thought it would interesting
BUt, hey, didn't his mother remarry and he did say at the start he still wasn't used to his last name so maybe the event in Komatta happened before the remarriage. I actually only thought of this after you mentioned the last name so, yeah. I like relating this manga to Komatta because I really love both.

That was really nice! It was like a two-chapter intro for the narrator's couple story. And i like how the mangaka made me care equally for the first three main characters within those two chapters.

I dont believe that is what that quote means. It's referring to those who play the happy fools who entertain those around them but at the end of the day, they probably go home and cry from their inner sadness that is never expressed since they have the role of the jester among their friends.
Yes. I had a feeling though it was someone who just wanted to express dislike and forced the idea on the quote. I could be completely wrong though. If I am and the person her/himself confirms it, I have to apologize.
